Well deserved table-toppers, your boys. We were our own worst enemies at times tonight, and we were punished for our mistakes and lack of discipline. Still, you guys were very impressive and kept us off the ball when it mattered. Took your chances, made them stick.

Steep learning curve for us, but we'll get there in the end.

I'm happy to admit (grudgingly!) that Collingwood are the real deal. :thumbsu:

Good win and congratulations. Not the biggest Collingwood fan but I will happily admit that you guys are really strong all over the field and were far too good for us. Bigger bodies, more intent.

I was only listening on the radio but did the scoreline/way the match was played go sort of similarly to you guys game vs Carlton a fortnight ago?

Very much so, thought you guys ran out of legs and with two short on the interchange. Would have been a massive disadvantage in such a quick game. Your boys will be right up there no doubt!

Nah not at all, you guys got 4 or so junk time goals, we were actually up by 31pts in the first qtr, then I think it got out to 55pts at different stages throughout the match.

Cheers for the congrats and all the rest of it, and good luck for season 2010.
I actually really enjoy watching Freo, and I hope they do well this season.

P.S Was VERY surprised to see Pavlich had 24 touches and two goals, he was well beaten I thought.

Cheers - as others have said Freo have a lot to look forward to this year. Good to see some supporters with some class on this site.

Thanks mate, was a good game, u guys will be there come finals because Freo are a damm good side.
You didnt lose tonight because you cant match it with the best, but more because you ran out of legs and just lacked that bit of hardness around the contest late in the game.

I disagree with the last statement, whilst he wasn't at his superstar best Pav played very well tonight in comparison to some of his teammates (Barlow too did well but was effective in how he went about it). But I do agree the scoreline flattered us a little.

Congratulations guys. A great game, great style and I can't look past the Pies for the flag. You guys are simply sublime in your skills, game plan and understanding and I honestly feel this is your year.

Whilst a excited freo fans may have baited the argument this week I knew this would be the week where we might stumble to a better side and I honestly feel that Freo would have to be the one side in the competition that doesn't have a major beef with Collingwood and vice versa. On that I will be following your boys this season with a potential monetary wager (I can't resist after what I've seen so far).

Congratulations again guys and I hope you do well for the rest of the season

Just too good for us tonight. Enjoyable game [bar the result ;)]. I've expected a performance like this and saw it coming although I was quietly hoping our winning ways would last another week.
Good luck for the rest of the season and hope we'll be there in September to play you again. :thumbsu:

Well Deserved win

Yeah guys let me just add my congratulations.

I feel very flat but we were simply beaten by a better team and a very even team.

You had no passengers and your fast play and zoning off was superb. Jolly competed very well and Cloke was decisive.

Forget about us losing McPharlin - the scoreline was flattering to us.

Well done and next week looks like a battle royale.

Re: Well Deserved win

Thanks Guys, and to Kapow!!!, yeah I probably was a bit harsh on Pavlich, just didn't think he was his normal "take the game by the scruff of the neck" self.

Still played well, I just didn't think after watching it he played that well. Personally I thought Sandi and Barlow were your bests.

Re: Well Deserved win

I still think Pavlich is a much better forward than midfielder.

The problem is when Pavlich is a midfielder he doesn't use his height and marking to his advantage, he doesn't roam around nearly enough, he just becomes another good inside midfielder. If he was more selfish in this regard and just floated around he'd be much more dangerous.

He got a lot of touches and some good inside footy but he didn't really damage us at all. If he floated around as he pleased rather than either be CHF or midfielder and playing to the strict structures of that role he'd be that much more dangerous. It's what stopping him from winning a brownlow ala Goodes. IMO he is and always has been better than him.

Re: Well Deserved win

Straight up, just too good tonight. This might be your year, you were just all over us.

Good luck for the rest of the year boys, may meet you in September.

well done guys - far too good

that was a magnificent team effort that we could not match

You guys weren't just good, but absolutely brilliant. We had our issues, McPharlin was a BIG loss, but it would have made no difference. The score-line flatters us so throw McPharline and Mundy back in and the scoreline looks about right - i.e. you were 6+ goals better than near our best side we could get on the park on our home ground. Really impressed with how your boys dealt with pressure, so quick by hand and foot and clean when it counts. Well done
