Random thoughts as I'm on the 200 power level grind: our existing armour should have been equivalent to tier one so I can start actually using these drops. There is nothing even worth looking at until 200+ and the chance of tier 3 and 4 can start dropping. My first tier 3 is the hand cannon with rewind rounds and incandescent so I think I'll be holding onto that.

I'm now sold on the changes. Feels like there is always something to do pushing harder modifiers for gear and there is a ceiling that unless you're a total sweat you probably aren't going to reach.

Also beat the hydra boss of new raid last night. I think I'm running again with clan tomorrow night with a different bunch of dudes so I hope we start with a different boss.

Can't get into it, I just couldn't be arsed having to grind for new armour, and having weapon tier attatched to guardian rank, and to get guarding rank, it forces you into playstyles you don't want to do ie grapple grenade replacing my turrets, in solo ops stuff. Already paid for they year, hopefully renegades is better. Dying light Beast and Borderlands 4 soon, so that's something lol

I actually don't mind the new armour stat changes because it makes so much more sense for min/maxing, but I agree I think they need to retune the tier drops and level requirements. I'm in the low 320s and have still only had a handful of t4 drops. My new t3s are better than my pre-EoF gear but with the time and effort it has taken me I should really be looking at more consistent t4s. It also means I'm stuck at GR7 until I grind to 350. What also sucks is once you've done the raid once or twice there is no point doing it again unless you enable modifiers because the gear drops at just t1. Surely something that takes that sort of coordination should be minimum t2 or t3.

Bring back the seasonal model IMO. I can't see how this new model is going to satisfy the remaining player base when the entirety of the launch day content of a new "season" can be done in about 15 minutes.

Anyway, been sitting on silver for a while so decided to drop it on a set of the new taken ornament set. Chucked on this shader as I'm running a solar build so it's kind of fitting but the red isn't quite this intense. I guess that's from trying to take a screen shot in HDR which is why the entire image is bright. Windows takes better shots than Steam but they're also too large to attach. The armour effect is also animated. Probably one of the coolest sets they've done.

Purdy shader.

Reading that the 'Portal' is a bit poo?

I've always felt that Destiny (D1 specifically) worked best as a companion game to whatever you were playing, but you still had incentive to come back weekly for RNG drops and you still had the grind to max level. Seems like this has swung back way too far?

I've come around with the portal as it makes sense with the current setup. It shows featured drops and stuff of the daily rotations.

And yeah it has swung too the opposite way. People used to complain about being drip fed content and how the seasonal model causes FOMO by requiring to log on weekly in order to stay up to date. As a long time MMO player I've always said that these games must have a hook to keep you coming back whether you like it or not. People I've played with have hated that and disagreed with me. However now there is no reason at all to log on. There is no hook and the same people are complaint about having nothing to do except "grind" power level. I'm trying to get to 450 just so I can reliably farm T5 gear which will set me up for the future if I don't feel like grinding again and the only other reason I log on is to farm a better Mint Retrograde (amazing rocket assisted pulse) roll when it's on rotation. Besides that there are zero things to do.

The Destiny 2 subreddit keeps popping up on my feed and it always seems to be quite negative.
The grind seems worse then ever, that being said, if it was like $15 id consider it.

Shame such a shader is hidden behind the eververse. It does like nice.

The taken shader is locked behind a ridiculous 2000 silver package that also includes a hoverboard. The ornament set I showed though is "only" 1600 silver and IMO better value because you can chuck other shaders on it for cool effects.

That is a lot of silver.
I know they want their money but I feel for the long term players who are just getting milked when it feels like they should be rewarded for sticking around so long.

Yeah it is. Every now and then I'll buy a bunch of silver and just sit on it until I see something cool that I really want. I don't mind investing a few dollars here and there on a game I have thousands of hours in and will likely spend thousands more in, but some of these Eververse packages are disgusting now. A lot of 2000 silver packages that have a weapon ornament and a shader. Often the shader is amazing which is they get people but it works out at like $30 a shader the weapon is not something you're going to always use. That's not value.

Actually one cool thing added this update is the monument to past seasons. The current season track now offers a new new currency that you use to buy things like ornaments, shaders and catalysts from previous seasons. It looks like I've missed 4 seasons in the entirety of Destiny so I can now go back and start grabbing those cosmetics.

That looks sick. Titan one look decent?

It takes shaders really well. A cool one is the photo finish shader because then it goes full RGB lol.

Just on the topic of scummy Eververse, you know how every season there is a featured paid armour set on top of the one you unlock through the season track. From memory they started off at around 800 silver or 1200 bright dust or something. Firstly I noticed they've removed the option to use bright dust to buy these sets and have also jacked up the silver price (I think this began around the Assassin's Creed cross over). Bright dust is now just for the weekly store offerings and certain themed armour sets like during solstice.

Secondly, you also remember how each season a preciously paid armour set would feature piece by piece over the weeks in the weekly bright dust offerings. Last season it was the paid stasis set from Beyond Light. Anyway the week I it was the boots they were causing issues on warlock where the ornament was glitching and not displaying properly. Instead of fixing it they disabled the purchase of the ornament. Now I'm missing one piece from that set and I want to complete it then I have to cough up 400 silver on the "discounted" set from the store (discount based on how many parts you already own). Dick move. Just let me use my dust again Bungo.

How much does 400 silver equate to? (From memory had to get 2000 at a minimum and think that was about $30?

I think at the moment it's 2000 (that comes with a bonus 300) for $33. That's the one I got recently because I keep it for if there is a really cool ornament for something meta/I'm going to use heaps as those ornaments are only like 600 silver. Last season I finally coughed up for the Starfire protocol ornament because I knew I'd run it all season and base Starfire is fugly. This season I got it for those gloves in my screen shot as it looks like solar buddy warlock will be my main build this season.

I can't find an original upload as it looks like Cross just clipped it off Twitch, but Gladd absolutely shredding Destiny is a bad sign. He sounds resigned. I saw the game hitting figures in only the 10-20k range on Steam and there was a time when that alone was the amount of people playing gambit. It's sad. I still like the game, but I don't like like the game like I used to. I want to but it's so hard to right now. Every MMO has its ups and downs and the good ones often bounce back but I don't know, something feels like dire about Destiny at the moment. The game hasn't been able to attract new players in years as the new light experience is awful. Then once you torch your existing player base not all of them will always return. Many are saying the only way to fix it from here is a Destiny 3 but is everyone truly prepared for that? To lose all our stuff again only for it to be slowly drip fed back into the game like it was from 1 to 2?
