With the Kangaroos terminating their contract with port melbourne halfway through the year, they are seeking new avenues in offloading their reserve grade players. Frankston has already said no, which leaves the devils and North Ballarat to choose from, another option floated during the year was the possibility of a team in Canberra. If the Devils choose to "partially" allign, which will give them access to 5 Kangaroos players each week, then I have no doubt that the intrest will dwindle.

Nth ballarat/ devils allignment is being considered. From what i hear a proposal has been put forward to nth ballarat to consider. IF it was a full allignment with the roosters, expect a lot of their local players to depart the club. I would think blokes like julian Field and Marc grieg would be on the move along with a swag of others.

Yeh, it'd be the same as it was for most other VFL clubs who ended up being aligned with an AFL club. I think it was Scott Wade (VFL Tas Regional Manager), who said that the problem with the alignment is that the young AFL-listed players get preference over the VFL players who have played at the club for years. And gee, I'd love to see how much blokes like Field and Grieg would dominate country footy - they're jets. I see Paul McMahon played a lot of 2's games for Nth Ballarat this year, any word on what he might be doing next year? Does Leigh Ryall (ex-Kyabram boy), still play at Nth Ballarat?

right on with field and grieg being dominant in country footy, they are guns. Not sure what mcmahon is up to next year, and yeah ryall still runs around with the roosters. Spent the first three quarters of the year in the ones but a niggling groin injury and an associated loss of form saw him play out the last 4 or so games in the twos.

Frankston has rejected an alliance with the Kangaroos next season and warned the Tasmanian Devils they should do the same.

The Kangaroos have been courting the three non-aligned VFL clubs to establish a place for their players when they are not needed in the AFL next season.

Frankston yesterday sent the Kangaroos a letter declining the offer of an alignment, leaving Tasmania and North Ballarat as the only two possibilities.

North Ballarat will decide over the next few weeks whether or not to take on the Kangaroos.

Hypothetically, if the Kangaroos cant find a team to align themselves with and are unwillingly to stand alone what happens?

They would probably have their players spread through all of the clubs like Adelaide & Port in the SANFL & West Coast & Freo in the WAFL.

Yeah, fair idea and it has worked in those two leagues.

Wouldn't be every club down here in the VFL though because there are already alignments in place and the AFL clubs wouldn't want these to be broken.

Only way Tassie should do it is if there are perceived benefits, such as the senior team ditching their aliance with Canberra and playing those games in Tassie. Otherwise they shouldn't touch it, and continue to nurture local talent instead.

Otherwise they shouldn't touch it, and continue to nurture local talent instead. If they were unable to form an aliance what exactly would happen?. Even if they were allowed to spread their players throughout the VFL if would become increasingly hard to monitor player progress. Stiil they should ahve acted like visitors when at Port Melbourne, instead of acting like it was their club.

Announced at nth ballarat b & F on friday ngiht that they are intending on alligning with the kangaroos, not a full allignment but a half one with another club like tasmania. From what i hear the playing group are not happy with the decision, expect some key players to opt out.
