Top down is good. Modified warcraft 3 engine....bad. SC2 uses a WC3 engine as well, and if you look through the screens on the new d3 site, some of the terrain,in particular stone tiles and fountains etc look like a higher res version of warcraft 3 terrain. That is complete,cartoony shit. D1 and D2 were very grim.

But, as long as the gameplay is great, which it will be, that is all that matters in the end.

Watching the gameplay vid, the combat looks and sounds very solid and fluid. The interiors in the vid look alot less cartoony than the exteriors on the screenshots, which is cool.

Damn stuck at work where my co-workers exceeded the download limit and its now capped. Can't wait to go watch all the vid's as soon as I get home.

Never been more exited for a game to come out, too bad it will be 2 years away (knowing Blizzard)

Starcraft 2 is due out Christmas 08 and I'd be shocked if Blizzard put Diablo III out anywhere near that - can't distract the fan base with too many new obsessions at once! My money would be on Christmas 09.

I wouldn't be surprised if D3 is out before SC2. As someone who played SC1 at a decent level, and is following SC2 closely, i can see Blizzard are struggling a bit with SC2, especially terran. Terran are completely lost, they've got mechs running around (trying to crack the japanese market?), they keep changing the role of the Thor mech, and it keeps failing,yet they keep it in anyway,which makes the jap market theory seem reasonable. Ridiculous things like dropships that heal instead of medics,and most units are being changed every day,with no real progress. Anyone who understants SC, knows that the Thor is a laughable prospect. I think SC2 is a long, long way off from complete.4 years of production and they're not even in beta yet (or Alpha! according to Blizz not long ago). The problem is, they are trying to improve something which can't be improved, apart from the graphics and UI.

D3 is considerably easier to balance and patch, and people won't be playing it competitively for money or as a spectator sport, like they will be with SC2, so there is alot less riding on it being perfectly balanced and functional at release. If its unbalanced at release, it doesn't really matter. So yeah, i think there is a huge chance D2 will be out before SC2.

Nah I get what you mean, they have to ensure SC2 is balanced as they are trying to make an e-sport. They are moulding WoW into an e-sport also, which is quite suprising as you don't have much chance in arena unless you are a Rogue, Warlock, Druid or Warrior.

Hopefully Diablo 3 doesn't follow the same path, and keeps true to Diablo and Diablo 2, just a more enhanced and fun game than it's predecessors.

Never played WoW, or seen it live. From what i know of it, i would be surprised if they could make any sort of spectator sport out of it. Blizzard do have a non-fantasy MMO in the works apparently.

Awesome! As much as I loved Starcraft I think Diablo 2 was better. I shudder to think how many hours I spent playing that game. The cinematic trailer was fantastic, Blizzard consistently make the best videos in the business.

Played all of Blizzard's games, enjoyed every one of them. But my most favourite game of all time still is Diablo I.

A good paladin in an Arena group is far more valuable than any of them, especially when paired with a good lock or warrior.
