Hawthorn Football Club will make its last training appearance at Glenferrie Oval on Thursday night as a prelude to the Celebrating Glenferrie Legends’ Game.

The Club’s training and administration headquarters are now permanently based at Waverley Park but the team will take to the track at 4pm on Thursday 2 March for a 30 minute skills session in preparation for its Round 2 clash against Adelaide this Saturday.

Club greats Chris Langford and John Platten will travel from their interstate homes of Sydney and Adelaide respectively to captain opposing teams.

Captain of the Hawks team, Platten had a simple warning Langford, leader of opposing side, the Mayblooms: “Look out!”

Speaking exclusively to hawthornfc.com.au just days before the big match, Platten made it clear that he and his team were out to win.

Asked how he was feeling about pulling on the boots again for the Hawks, Platten responded “Absolutely fantastic, I have a lot of great memories from my time at Hawthorn and I can’t wait to get out there again on Thursday.”

“I’m just looking forward to belting Brereton, kicking the ball over Dunstall’s head and receiving a handball from Tuck,” he said.

While he might have to wait until the next Legends’ Game to get one up on Dermott, who has been sidelined to a role as boundary reporter due to a shoulder injury, he will get the chance to oppose former teammates Andrew Gowers, Paul Salmon and Darrin Pritchard.

The Legends’ Game action will commence at 6pm and the crowd is invited back to the Social Club for an after match function that will feature interviews with some of the players from the game.

Tickets are available at the gate from 4pm or call the events department on 03 9535 3049 to pre book.

I mised the first bit and it was mostly about Beyond Blue and wayne schwass.

Jef was quite touching actually - if you ignore the irony.

I heard the whole interview and Jeff as usual was polished and professional.
On football issues, he repeated that Clarkson's performance would be assessed by the football experts on the board and within the club mid season, with a recommendation to the Board as to go or whoa.

He did say that he is very impressed by AC's technical abilities and the depth of his knowledge. He also said that it was a mark of the man that AC, in the last year of a two year contract still, in the trading and drafting period was all about the future of the club.

He said that they want success at HFC for 5 - 10 years, not just now (although he is proud to say that he is one for one as Prez!:)

He also talked a bit about Hawthorn and the Footy Show, but again said he does not see his place on the show - either the CEO, Ian Robson, or the head coach should be on the Footy Show, depending upon the angle of the particular story ie. if about the Club, the CEO should be on, if football issues, the head coach. Sounds simple enough to me!!

He then commented on the new female Board member and then they got into the Schwass/depression/beyond blue stuff after that.

Billy, Andrew Maher and Tim Watson all agreed that Jeff is going to be great for the club and football in general.
