Did "The Club" foretell Essendon's future?

"The Club" - a classic movie from 1980 detailing the politics, ambition, and goings-on within a sporting organization competing in Australia's premier football competition.

Some labelled it a comedy, or early mockumentary, but today we can see it as an accurate foretelling of the future events at the Essendon Football club

Even the characters are eerily accurate, eg:
Sheedy = Jock
Barham = Ted Parker
