Kym I will go home tonight and vote for you.

I for one am sick and tired of the club trotting out some ex player (who the club knows will be elected by default) as a way to ensure that outsiders aren't being elected to the board.

Personally I am tired of the boys club mentality.

Unfortunately I have to live in enemy territory. Last time I was over in SA I took the kids down to footy park to visit the shop and they were intrigued by the base not being at Adelaide Oval. I remembered that members used to be able to book in for free organised tour of the club so we wandered in to the office to book in. Apparently, they ended some time ago. Kids (and me) were pretty disappointed. I'd love to be able to go the "the club" where you could grab a meal, watch away games, see some of the club's history on display.

Without out a physical home, I think memberships can sometimes make you feel a bit like you're just paying for some emails, some questionable merchandise (although this year was pretty good!) and a seat. A home needs to be both for the players, and the supporters.

Those tours ended a while ago, it along with everything else that Trigg did became a while elephant.

Not sure if the tours were ever free though, I definitely know in the beginning it was around $15 each to get in the door.

I didn't go personally, but I know someone who did and said that it was an extremely underwhelming experience and thought the club was pretty shameless by asking people to fork over $15 to go and view it.

If anything you were most probably better off that you missed it.

Have you ever spoken to Rod personally? Yes, he may be an ex-Player, but he oozes passion for the club, he's not doing this for networking purposes, he's doing this because he wants us to succeed and because he has a genuine love for the AFC. Not to mention him being involved in the club more than just a board member. I get what you're saying about breaking up the boys club mentality, but I think Rod is a professional and the right person for the job.

I have found Rod to be brilliant.

My issue is not even really directed at Rod Jameson, but more at this continual process where the club seems to select 1 or 2 "golden boys" to put on the ballot to ensure that the deck is stacked against any outsider who nominates.

I think Kym, as a long term member of the club, would possess just as much passion and love for the club as Rod Jameson does. I also doubt this wouldn't even enter the minds of a majority of members when they vote. People will just see Rod Jameson's name on the ballot and will myopicly vote for him solely because he's a former player and presents them with a "safe" option.

Personally I think the members should have at least one legitimate member representative on the board and it should be someone chosen through a vote amongst the members and it should be strictly limited to actual paying members of the club only. If the club wants to promote former players to the board then they have the other nomination system to get them on board.

IMO it's time to stop promoting from within and actually promote and encourage some new blood and ideas rather than stacking the deck against them in unwinnable elections.

Apparently next year Roo is moving to a nominated seat to open up one for members' choice.

I did hear that Roo was moving to a nominated seat, but even if that does happen it still doesn't mean that the club won't be wheeling out another hand picked "golden boy" to contest the next member's ballot.

I expect to see Peter Caven or someone of that ilk rolled out next time...... watch this space !!!!

Yep. Have to wait and see. They did mention that they wanted to free it up for a members' choice though.

1. Part of new casino district
2. Part of Lang Walker's office building next to the festival centre
3. Old Le Cornu site
4. Redevelopment of North Adelaide aquatic centre (although a bit far out)
5. Part of a Vic Park grandstand redevelopment which will no doubt be put back on the agenda any day now
6. Part of redeveloped Memorial Drive Indoor arena

There's 6 options that would do the trick. At least one of them would have legs.

Scratch #1 off the list. #2 would literally be 3 years away. Would have thought it would be best to go down the route of buying an established pub?

Just lucky there is a pub very close to Norwood Oval that handles AFLW and hey lets try SANFL as well ;)

Chapman did mention he would like the position filled by a Member. but Rucci fails to report that. he only mentions part of the talk.
“(Ricciuto’s) seat then will be available to the members to nominate (a candidate),” Chapman said.

It's not a boys club. It's just a strange coincidence that all the best people just happen to be ex-Adelaide Crows.:drunk:

He's the right person to represent the players/past players, but surely members deserve their own rep?

Sounds like you all are saying we need a guy who can drain the West Lakes, who is an outsider and can MAGA.

When can I ship him?

Mate, chuck him in a crate, but remember, don't drill any airholes

I went the other way
Saw rods name on the ballot and went the alternative.
Roo is enough, me no need rod.
