Poor finish to an improved year.

Nonetheless do you think we have established a platform from which to launch further next year?

you would think so. Some good young players and buckley is still capable of some absolute awesome performances. If rocca and tarrant can be more consistent and didak continues to play well there is a good chance collingwood will play consistent finals footy!

I'm still not certain whether we will reach the spot we made this year next season, but I think we should make finals again. Interesting to see which passengers we keep on. Sounds harsh, but if we had finished further down and out of the 8 I think the clean out would be a lot deeper than it will be. But maybe that would have been a positive. I think we are holding onto some of the passengers because they are bridging the gap between the reliable veterans and the class youngsters that are coming through.

yes going backwards would be terrible, we spent 2 years doing that, no i think our future is bright. Looking forward to 2007!

just got back from the match

1.Tarrant needs to improve his kicking and he will be awesome
2. Tactic tactic tactic, didn't someone tell mick the bulldogs has got pace? or has anyone told him they are not good against talls? so why chip it around?
3. thomas is awesome
4. i hope collingwood wins a flag for clement
5. feel sry for buckley

extremly dissapointing, but i never expected us to win, at least this year was better then last :) lets hope we go one step futher next year.

do we get a top 10 pick?

I think the signs are good for next season; we just have to work on consistency and (as the Doggies showed us today) foot speed...

Is there an Arizona of foot speed training? :p

The pies had a good 1st half of the year considering where they came from, however there 2nd half was shocking, the only reason they finished 5th was because of there **** easy draw, (haw, ess, carl, port, kang) all playing them twice. I knew all along they were never flag contendors, however with there young players stepping up including shaw, thomas, pendelbury, rusling, swan they might have a future to look forward to but they still have A LOT to do if they are going to be considered a good team including more recruiting especially of fast young talented midfielders.

i rekon we need kelly, and also try to get some fast midfielders, our midfield is one dimentional, all tough guys, most of the have poor disposal skills

Malthouse was completely out coached today, he has plan A and that is it we won't go any further forward until he goes.

Thanks for a great day pies, premiership favourites in June, dog food when it counted most.
But you know, I really feel for nathan... poor fella

;)

i really feel for gary ablett...poor fella, oh yea and the whole geelong team this year, what is it premiership favs at start of season and won the NAB cup? ohh yea, feel sorry for you guys.....

All my old man wants to do is sack Malthouse and give McGuane the top job. It's ridiculous on quite a few levels, but, and it's crazy to say, its got merit on some as well.

just annoyed thats all

I can understand how you feel, and I shouldn't have been so outspoken either. If it was my team I would be devastated. It is such an emotional game, and believe me we have had our share of losses this year too. Hopefully we will have a better year next year..we have to have some hope for the future, no matter what team you support. We all love our own club.

today was absoloutely disgsusting after quarter-time. been looking foward to finals for about 6 weeks...and the performance today was terrible. Anyone who says trade tarrant has got to be kidding themselves...one of the only players who gave there all this bloke has one of the highest work ethics in the afl just didnt stop presenting andleading. Although he missed crucial set shots, if he got just get this part of his game right would be in the top 10 fowards in the game. personally i thought after quarter time today we just didn't give it a red hot crack which is what any team needs to do if it wants to win a final. i hope we can build on this too next year but unless a few good draft picks are gained or some drastic improvement from some younger players takes place i cant see us finishing in the top 4.

Malthouse outcoached?? Captain obvious, everytime a side loses it is because they are outcoached apparantly .

We lost because

-We got absolutely smashed in the clearances. Burns, holland, obree and licca are our best clearance players and they got a total hiding. Probably as one sided as i have seen this year

-When we had chances we did not take them. I thought Taz was one of our best but he needs to learn to kick the important goals . Bad kicking is bad footy.

-Tackling was woeful. I lost count of how many goals the Dogs scored in pieces of play resulting in broken tackles. I think it has been a weakness all year and today it really cost us.

-Finally the doggies wanted it alot more. They were fantastic. If it had to be any side I am glad it was the dogs. I love the way the play and I hope they can do well although the next 2 weeks is a pretty tough ask.

Malthouse could have swang the midfield around a bit more but I doubt it would have made much of a difference. The coaches had very little to do with the result today.
