The fact that I had to stop watching after just 7 minutes into the first quarter because the way we were playing, I was 100% certain that I would end up breaking the TV or smashing our glass coffee table. It was for the safety of everyone in my house that I didn't watch another minute of the game from that moment on, I just checked the final scores now.

And it is just not worth it, because I already knew that the club is absolutely pathetic at playing a football game anywhere west of Victoria (AAMI & Subiaco).

So to those people saying give Daniher another chance, get a grip. We are absolutely uncompetitive at Subiaco and AAMI Stadium, so if we are ever to make the top four and win a flag, we'll need to learn to win there. And clearly, 10 years into Danihers tenure, we have not yet learnt how to do that.

Melbourne played much of defencing mode than attacking mode which ruins the match. With Fergusson off the ground with injury, the defence is a problem.

I don't think N.Carroll is as agood as he was before. With no support in the defence, he could give opposition easy goals which really destruct the team's confidence.

The most annoying thing was that we weren't doing it on purpose we just sucked and couldn't get the ball out of the backline. The kick ins has to be an area where if ND wants to coach next year, he has to take a stance and get some way of working this out, its a simple way to prove he is up to being an AFL coach.

We were lucky not to lose by more. The Eagles are just so much better than us its unbelievable. Their midfield shits all over ours.

pfft. We knew this game was going to be not only a loss, but a red blooded pumping.

Not even Brock or Jacko coulda saved us today.

Speaking of Jacko, a couple of commentary gems from Glen today, "Melbourne need to get the hands in the good users like Johnstone and Godfrey". And later "Chris Miller...." I hope this Chris Miller bloke who was out there goes alright because Brad surely doesn't.

I could've sworn I heard "Chris Miller", but just passed it off as me mis-hearing something. At least I know I'm not going crazy.

so your one of those supporters....

No, I can honestly say that is the first time I have purposely not watched a match out of pure frustration. This is the 13th year in a row that I have been a member of the club, and when you can sense the same crap is about to be served up...you need to play it safe and ensure that you don't smash your TV.

It's pathetic. Simple as that. People here need to wake up a bit.

We need to be as good as West Coast...not expect a loss.

Enough is f'n enough.

NEW COACHES. NEW ATTITUDE. IF NEED BE....NEW PLAYERS.:thumbsd:

Here's the thing we are 0 - 8

Let me repeat that

We are 0-8!

In a year we considered (by ourselves if not anyone else) to be a shot at the flag. It this stage you'd have to say we are the worst shape of ANY CLUB in the competition because at least Richmond and Carlton are in the self proclaimed 'rebuilding phase' where does that leave us? 15th with Neitz on the brink of retirement and the likes of Simon Godfrey in the midfield. Our depth is terrible, that is more clear than anything this year. We lost some players (albeit very good ones) and become completely uncompetitive. You'd almost have to say we are totally unprofessional on the field too. The way we play smack of no decent game plan and no confidence. West Coast put us in our place.

We are a disgrace right now.

We were uncompetitive even with our good players. We have glaring problems with work ethic when we don't have the ball and a complete lack of smarts when we do have the ball. The amount of times the ball was chipped across feild in the backline and cut off by the opposition who wandered in to kick a goal was embarrassing. West Coast were really just good enough to completely expose these deficiencies that we can cover over a little bit against lesser opposition.

Put against the benchmark of the league shows how far off we really are. They are twice as fast, they're midfielders are amazing. Not only in the middle, but their work ethic to run back when melbourne was entering its 50. At one stage they're was 5 players on neitz and it was the last quarter for gods sakes. Melbourne shit itself today in WA as it usually does. I hope they learnt something at least. We need a full back too. Carroll's run is over. How many times did he fall over yesterday to let lynch take an easy chest mark, usually 10 metres out. Unacceptable.

If you are going to run out looking like a reject from a 70's pr0n film, then you need to be able to back yourself by playing very decent footy. If not you just look like a fool.

He's playing poorly but it's not like there's any backup down there. With Rivers out and Ferguson always likely to snap like a twig the moment anyone went anywhere near him it would have been nice to have a Warnock or Holland down there to at least pretend we've got some sort of backline.

By christ I'm depressed by this season.

Your coach stated " the start was what killed us " ......
Neale you are the coach and you still had 3 and 3/4 of a game to play .
Your fault .
You have the players but all your running players seem to be deep in defence for long periods ,why ?

Basically in simple terms we suck, but yer we had no forward options and our midfield was not offering anything either so the backs would kick across or try and centre it resulting in many turnovers..

I think we can all agree that the best part of watching the game was the Allen Jakovich kiss.

Any1 enjoy that turn over in the back line where wirippunda chopped it off and kicked a goal?? i forget which melb player did it..

imo these people have to go..
Paul Johnson
Nathan Brown
Daniel Ward
Ryan Ferguson
Mark Riley
Neale

And others...

daniher doesnt seem to understand how to play a loose man in defence. he just needed to stand someone 15-20m infront of lynch and cut it off. when our midfield doesnt touch the ball its hard to blame carroll. holland would have been a better option strength wise and then with someone infront of him to cut off the leads.
its not the first time neale has ignored doing it to a key forward. the one positive time i remember was when bizzel played it.

The Eagles really showed us up in several areas:

Skills:- we just couldn't hit our targets, and this has been a problem all year, guys like Brown, Godfrey, Ward, Carroll, etc couldn't hit the side of a bus, and somehow these guys are the ones that end up with the ball when we switch play. Just DUMB to kick it to these guys.

Pressure: Just so much pressure on us, and we lacked any sort of composure to deal with it, and its funny to hear them all say that they're still confident in themselves. What a load of .... the way they played showed they had zero confidence in themselves. Another thing was it seemed whenever the Eagles had the ball, we would wait to see what they would do, or watch what their player was doing. One instance was Godfrey was about 2 metres away from and Eagles player in possession, but instead of tackling he ran away watching his player!!! How about putting some pressure on the ball player to cause a mistake!!! It doesn't happen enough we're too reactive waiting for them to get a possession away.

Body Strength: Not much needs to be said here, they are bigger stronger and fitter. So much for our new fitness regimen, they still ran more than us yet they're twice as big...surely you can be big and fit??? is it too much to ask?

There are others there, but i really can't be bothered going through them. We may need a new coach, maybe not...but definitely we need new fresh ideas either coming from a the head coach, or from the assistants and fitness areas.

I'm also just waiting to hear who's got hammy soreness this week...

:thumbsu: Gets like that at times.
