Roast Disgusting umpiring

As a neutral i was shaking my head in disbelief at times.

What's happenned to the 'kicking in danger' rule. Anyone see where the freo player put his hand down to get the ball & the bulldogs player soccered the ball - Poor freo player was clutching his hand in pain. It was so blatant but nope, no whistle.

They've paid that a couple of times this year actually, but as a general rule kicking in danger simply isn't paid anymore.

I think the Freo supporters suffered from a couple of bad decisions early and so anything from that point on in their mind needed to go their way to even the score. I mean, some of the deliberates the crowd was calling for after that 50/50 deliberate we got were very amusing :p When you constantly dont get free kicks you're constantly calling for even if they're not really there you get more and more frustrated. Just the nature of being a football fan I guess.

Congrats on the win guys. You were deserving. Who gives a stuff about the umpiring when you got the four points

Yep, Hill had his hand kicked into Row 7. To compound, there was a free kick paid less than 3 seconds later to a Bulldog player for a push in the back which was iffy at best.

I must say that this was the worst call of the night. Even worse than the boundary call. I got home from 8 days at work up north to hae a shower, sit down, see an ANZAC Day Last post at Paterson's, hear a few yobbos shouting before reveille, then I see Brian Lake mingling with the crowd while disposing of the ball. Sack the umpire.

The Grover frees were there. He was knackered and caught behind and panicked twice (even though the first time he really didn't need to, Ibbo was dropping back into his run). The delibrate I also think was there...but not really one of those that gets paid too often as it did go 50 metres up field from a frantic 'get the ball out of defence' kick.

However had we have lost by under a goal I would've been furious. Lake's out of bounds was f***ing comical to say the least. Monumental stuff up from the boundary umpire. And what's with all the smaller holds and pushes that we seemed to get pinged for and they didn't? It wasn't consistent umpiring and that's probably what was most frustrating.

And what's the go with paying a very soft push in the back three seconds after Hill's hand was punted out of Subi? I thought that was as obvious as they get. Still it was an unbelievable game of footy and one everyone else in this house wish was an afternoon game because I think I may have woken everyone up with the screaming during the last quarter :o

Not to mention Hudson infringed at every ruck contest. Just because Sandilands is 211cm doesn't mean you can hang off his shoulder with both arms. You could tell it was pissing Sandi off by the end of the match as well, just started pushing him out before the bounce which I don't know why he doesn't do more often.

Umpires Matthew 'Sirengate' Nicholls (15) & Steve McBurney (3) in last nights game ...say no more! they both cant use the excuse that their hair got in their eyes either ...if that moron Geischen has any idea (which he doesnt) those 2 should be umpiring in Warburton next week!

I cannot believe how bad the umpiring was last night! I honestly believe there is match fixing going on in certain games of AFL football. If it happens in cricket and soccer (worldwide), why wouldn't it happen in football? I have watched a lot of Freo games where you sense early on the umpires are either with us, or against us, or neutral. And i dont mean they were just a little against us last night, they were as someone else here said about 5 goals against us.

The umpires should be full time professionals, not just because i think there may be match fixing, but just to bring the quality of their umpiring up.

How would Collingwood and Eddie react to that umpiring of it was against them? I think the AFL would apologise to them.

I think we should start a petition to the afl to keep this goose from umpiring our games. He has made too many really disgaceful decisions for us to believe that he can officiate competently or fairly. In a number of these decisions it has influenced the outcome of the game and iirc in all cases that I can recall his dubious umpiring decisions have favoured the opposition. Neutrality is questionable on that basis.

Again. What were the howlers?

Again. What were the howlers?

There were a couple of flinging players to the ground after disposal, Pav in the last had his jumper ripped back and dumped on his neck, after he got rid of it, play on

But the non existant , kicking in danger when Hill had his hand on the ball was a joke.

He dropped it, could have been holding the ball.

Fair call.

Yeah was there, I really didnt see too many howlers tbh and think this is way over the top.

It's all in the interpretation by the ump isn't it. As a die hard, one eyed tragic we only see the purple option. Could have been incorrect disposal, I say tackle without the ball.

Overall the free kick seemed to be fairly lopsided in Bullies favour. I'm not moaning too much as we got the chocolates :thumbsu:

Re: the Hill decision, to be fair i haven't seen a kicking in danger for ages

The missus took the kids up for this one, so i had the benefit of fox replays.

Again. What were the howlers?

It was not so much howlers, but it was more about the 50 / 50 decisions, field position of the incidents as to the scoreboard damage that results. If they applied the same sh*t or good consistency we could be happy.

There was an incorrect disposal decision against pav, fair call that resulted in a goal iirc, but replecated by a dogs player 2 minutes later, no free, but ply carried on an an infrigment went the other way.

A few errors but they did also cut both ways.

I don't see the bias against us, I simply think in anything as subjective as umpiring you have to allow for the odd abberation in performance.

Not a great night, the Lake out of bounds incident was a howler but hey that didn't create the goal .....we got beaten down field too all on our own.

Bullies had a couple of severe calls against them too. Their 50 m penalty was harsh.

Feel a bit sorry for the boundary ump to be honest - must be copping crap from everyone.

Apart from the Lake boundary line episode I don't think there were too many howlers.......but we did tend to get the 50/50 calls for a lot of the night.

You must admit that the Freo crowd whipped themselves into a frenzy after the first deliberate call was made. Every time the ball went out of bounds afterwards, the calls from the crowd for deliberate became more and more ridiculous. TBH Sandilands really should have been called several times for belting the ball across the line from throw-ins........... no player in the vicinity.

Enjoy your win. Both teams could have come out on top in a game with so many errors. Certainly can't complain about the commitment of both sides. Congrats.

I agree. It was the deliberate out of bounds in the first quarter that started the crowd. It was a diabolical decision, and was not consistently followed after!

A lot of the deliberate calls were tongue in cheek after the Mundy one.

what annoyed me is bulldogs got a goal directly from the Lake incident.

Not sure about that looking at the Freo supporters in the crowd. Thought their heads were going to explode at one stage. I thought they worked themselves into such a state it didn't matter what decision the umpires made, it was going to be wrong.

Don't agree with that Moo, Lake kicked it straight to Sherman from oob, who then goaled.

Howlers:

Ibbo going to ground and the Bullies player sandwiched between him and another Freo player (no idea who) and the Bullies player getting a free/goal. Ibbo was not pushed in the back by the Bullies player (one of our own did it) but wtf was the free for?

Not to mention the 2 (that I counted anyway) "out of bounds" that were called play on, both resulting in goals for the Bullies.
