I thought all of the kicks into the forward line were absolutely disgraceful. Worked well getting it out of the back line, and apart from the odd few kicks that hit a target, the rest were spoiled. Thats why Fevola only got one, whilst Eddie Betts as a crumber got 3.
Thoughts?? or possibly a solution? I dont know what Carlton train like but I think the centres should do a bit of simple kick to kick

I think its more about where we are trying to pass the ball from. It was easy to see against the well drilled bulldogs. We take the ball very wide and try to kick across our bodies to hit forwards which is very hard to do. Simpson is an example. Have a look at the replay on fox footy, a couple of times he ran from the centre square out towards the space between the forwad 50 and the bench instead of going straighter. The bulldogs work the ball through the middle to give low easy kicks.
I think this is a confidence thing mostly and hopefully. Murphy was the best player at doing this for us earlier in the season.

This is one of the major issues at the club. Our disposal is shocking more often than not. I believe much of it is related to how we set the forward line up. Much of the time we don't have anyone there. As a result players down field have to hesitate and lose their flow and confidence.

Once confidence and instict is lost the delivery becomes poorer and poorer. I believe we need to take on some of the old style of footy theories. ie; To keep a structured forward 6 and create a culture of direct delivery into the forward line. Once confidence is returned I believe natural instict from skilled players like Houlihan, Stevens, Blackwell, Scotland and Lappin will have the ball delivered in the best position for the advantage of our forwards.

At the moment we are hesitating too long with the ball either waiting for forwards to reach their positions or in trying to spot the perfect short pass. With the umpires speeding up disposal time from set kicks this hesitating is putting ball delivery under even more pressure. When the whistle is blown our guys still seem to go for unrealistic short spots rather than kicking long and direct.

We have some great targets up forward these days. It would be refreshing to see them at home from time to time and also refreshing to see some long direct kicks putting the opposition defences under pressure.

as much as our kicking into the FWD line is poor and at times our FWD structure is bare, we also need to take a look at our kicking for goal, especially from set shots.

when we have shots for goals we need to capitalise and make the most of our (at times) limited opportunities,

we can't afford to be sloppy in front of goal and this year we have been.
on 7 ocassions this season we have kicked more points that goals in a game-

that is not good enough and is the same as a turnover around the ground.

5 games this year we have lost by 15 points or less.

Agree.

Even though Fev is a gun, he does miss quite a few reasonable shots albeit getting the impossible ones.

Instead of Fev practicing his NFL punting I wish he'd spend more of that time practicing his kicking with an AFL ball.

Professional footballers in an enclosed stadium (especially forwards), like other professionals should spend 40 hours a week working.

So in the off-season after weekly meetings, massage, physio, etc etc they should have around 20 hours of time to work on their skills and fitness. So five months ~ 22 weeks, 22 * 20 = 440 hours.

Chris Tarrant is an example of this too.. a guy who gets paid copious amounts of money and when it comes to his key job objective to kick a goal he misses.

If you or I in our jobs consistantly screwed up in our key functionalities we'd be sent to Centrelink ASAP.

Note I'm not singling out Fev here (the guy has potential to be a legend) using him to kinda get my point across.
