distinctive character of each decade ?

I have two observations here.

1.looking at the last few decades, what we percieve distinguishes a decade, seems to happen around the turn of the decade, if not before.

In the 70s, the psychadelia and glsm rock, associated fashiond seemed to be developing in 68 and the glam rock was waning by the late decade.

The 80s arre remembered for thir distinctive fashions and music - punk - new romantic - reggae - two tone and some of these were developing in the late 70s

90s is similar (although not too distinct form the 80s

00s had the lowwww cut jeans, reality Tv etc and now we are reching the end of the decade.

Which brings me to point 2.

I cannot detect anything, pop culture wise, that is didtinctive to the 10s. Perhaps the financial situation will precipitate something

Perhaps facebook etc as we know it now is only the tip of the iceberg, and will be expanded upon ten-fold in the next decade, and not just primarily at sit-down PC's.

Video communication (as opposed to audio) will probably become the norm as well in terms of live communication.

I think it will be primarily a reaction to the global economic crisis.

Whether it is a sense of global interdependence or war, Im not sure. One of the 2 though

Remember that scene in a Simpsons episode, where in the future Lisa is marrying that Hugh guy, and she talks to Marge on a video phone? That's been coming for a long, long time. It's already possible as it is so the telephone, as we know it now, will probably become obsolete within a few years.
