Do we need a developing key back man?

Only Stevens and Macca are true forwards, ie actually lead for the ball and create space to work in.

Both are far more consistent and valuable in defence however.

This has been a gripe of mine for ages...our backline is good because that's where they have stacked the quality players.

Recruit a defender - he doesn't have to be massive like Rutten , but just be able to check a player and spoil ! Then maybe we could move some of our forwards who are currently playing in defense, BACK to the forward lines!

Bock, Rutten, Johncock, McLeod, and Stevens all played forward roles in the past.

Just a thought.....

There's a reason why they spend the majority of their footy in defence, its because they are for the large part much, much better defenders than they are forwards, none of these guys are the answers to our forward line problems, all bar Stevens are AA quality players when playing as defenders, not when they play forward, its just a major waste. Stevens I can handle forward, he's a good swing man, however I'd rather see him settle into Bassets role now and let Moran play the swing mans role.

I agree, but out of that group they are the only forwards.

We still dont have a player who naturally leads for the ball. Walker looks likley but is untested and I feel should be eased into AFL footy next year.

the reason failed forwards become defenders is not a matter of choice, but because playing forward is about 23.748 times harder than playing back.

much easier to be a defender.

I'd suggest it's just as hard to be a good defender as it is to be a good forward.

If all you want is someone who can punch a ball, then yeah, it's easier.

And that's BS. It's 21.341 times harder.
