With tonight's game fast approaching, and sure to be a bit fiery, I've been wondering (for a while actually) if we could do with having a big "enforcer" type player to get a bit physical/back up teammates against the sort of "unsociable crap" teams like the Dawks like to bring.

In years gone by we had Baz, Plugga, Mummy, even Dermie (for a short time) who all liked to go hard (often too hard). But the GF last year, and actually quite regularly, I don't think we show enough aggression, especially after one of our guys cops a big hit. Sure Jetts or Kiz have a push, but when Hall was around, nobody ever messed with the boys cos you knew he'd target you for the rest of the game.

I'm not looking for a Campbell Brown - d!ckhead type, just someone who is not afraid to lay a good hip & shoulder, bring the intimidation factor, or just protect his mates.

Zak Jones will be that enforcer. Just you wait and see. He loves the physical side of the game and on numerous times i have watched him as soon as he comes on hes into a scrap. I would hate seeing him on the other side of the field in different colours. He would probably flog most players too. He can control it and if he has a bit of lip even better!

Watch heeney very closely aswell, no opponent withing a 10 m radius escapes contact from him

Heard a story that Zak Jones couldn't partipate in contact drills for warm ups because he would hurt teammates he was that fired up.

Fast becoming one of my favourite players.

Cant have enforcers and pointers in the same side.

NANKERVIS should take that mantle

Nanka definitely has the build for it. Tippett in the centre knocking over midfielders to win the centre clearance was a joy to see a couple of weeks back. Just want our big guys to follow up with hard tackles like mummy used to.
Really make the opposition think "if you get it, you're gunna get crunched!"

I don't think we need tough individuals. I think the hole team could do with a bit more c&*$ in them. I'm not talking snipers. I'm talking about players elbowing opponents in the ribs when being held, stepping on their opponents toes, squirting the water bottle in their faces, etc. They seem have too much integrity and should be taking a leaf out of books of Hawthorn, Geelong, etc who know how to raise the arm so that the tacklers hits them high or to run head long into their opponent producing a free (although umpires are now aware of this).

We had no issue dishing it up in Round 8. All about the player

Round 8 they made us proud with aggression and effort imo

Bring it tonight please

We needed a few enforcers tonight, just to make them earn it - no cheap hits, just to apply some real (or perceived pressure...

Get real. You think an enforcer would have made a difference tonight ? The main difference as I saw it was the Hawks were cleaner with their disposal and ran harder to create options.

Time to hire some skills coaches.

Obviously it's not going to be the difference between an 89 point loss and a win, but if you think that loss was just a lack of skills, get real...

Yes, they were awesome, we got enough ball in the first half and as you say, our skills sorely let us down. But as the game went on, too many of our guys dropped their heads, didn't run, allowed them super easy forward entries, didn't man up, went to ground easily.
Again, it wouldn't have won us the game, but show some heart, keep fighting till the end, lead by example and "enforce" some of the Bloods culture.

A bloke named Mumford did a pretty good job of smashing us in leading his G.W.S to a win!....Just saying.

I was at that game. Hawks attitude to that game vs tonight are oceans apart.

Between Mumford & Tippett, I know which one I'd have....No brainer.....It's Mumford whom your team misses the most since 2013....No 2 ways about it.

Mumfords missed yep

But his body was and is suspect

We miss 2012 okeefe, goodes, lrt, ted, shaw, jude etc hard nuts in form

Now they are retired or useless and we have not filled the needs correctly

Little things like drafting the same type of small to medium build players when we need a key defender

Just reckon your blokes went about it the wrong way tonight....Too much focus on being hard at the man & not the ball....Just adjust that aspect of your approach & it won't surprise me to see you knock off West Coast....Your midfield is still the best in the comp & they just need to do what they do best by hunting the ball....There's alot of small & skinny mids in the W/C side & not one side has taken advantage of that fact yet....Lose Priddis & there is no other real inside grunt to get the ball out for em.;)

As for Tippett....He could do worse than watching how Mumford goes about it.
