Cuz embarrassed both the League and his club. Can you imagine how galled the AFL is that one of the best is also a bad boy. Brownlow medalist and some think morally the captain of their premiership team. Judd was only the captain becuase the Eagles had to sack Cuz for his triathalon effort (Drive, sprint, swim). From a league marketing (and weagles marketing) perspective he was a thorn in their side, idolised but tainted. They could not use his drawing power so they were forced to use someone else and by default anyone else was second best. (I would argue Judd is equal to anything CUz has achieved but that is debateable and the league does not want that debate, they want a clear cut undisputed champions to hang their marketing on.)

Funny thing is you could put old man Ablett, or Wayne Carey into that para and it still reads.

Except once you finish, and then stuff up, you are cut loose very quickly from the embracing bosom that is the AFL.

No matter what some say, the bar has been set very low for Cousins.
