I am happy that the club hasn't given into the wage demands of Ottens and his management team. Finally we are going to start rewarding players on performance rather than potential, hopefully this will prevent any future Gaspar and Holland type debacles.

I'm glad they made this stand, I would have loved to keep Ottens as I think he is a very good player, perhaps hasn't realised enough of his potential yet though. A lot depends on what we get in return, but in principal the salary cap means we can't afford to pay players more than they are worth, I never want to see us paying the salary of a player at another club again.

As dissappointing as it is going to be to see Otto in another teams colours next season, i am over the moon that the RFC has finally got the 'no individual is bigger than the club' attitude. For too long this club has been held to randsom by 'potential'.

TW was going to play Otto out of the goal square next season anyway, so we haven't really lost a ruckman. Just means Shultzy is gonna have to take the next step . . .

Schulz will make the next step. I know this is a positive step forward. As crap as it sounds to be losing Brad we have so many draft picks that even if one turns out into a damn good player we have won from this situation.

He doesnt want to play win us. He wants a flag or he wants more money. Take your pick. Let me tell you that we will be a force in 5 years. I cant wait for it.

Ottens makes a big mistake. He should have shut up about wanting to leave. Now, even if we manage to keep him, the Tigers fans will always know he did a Wayne Campbell on us.

Fair go. Money was never the issue with Campbell

I have mixed views on losing him as i believe we havn't been able to utilise his strengths under frawley & co. So the thought of seeing him reach his percieved potential under another coach & team might come back to haunt...alas. however...................

If money was the issue, then im pleased that the club hasn't caved into excessive demands that ottens & his management might have put on the club .

About time we started playing players for what they are worth rather than what price the market artificially puts on them. With the AFL forcing clubs to have full lists, there is no place for overpaid players who are taking the place of 2.

It also sends a strong message to the rest of the team - the gravy train has now stopped.

As a point of comparison, who has won out of Barry Hall leaving Sydney? I would suggest that the Swannies are pretty happy but even happier still are St. Kilda. This trade was a key part of their rebuilding which has them now primed to challenge for a premiership.

We now are in the position St. Kilda were in a few years back.

Oh bum I think I accidently hit "no" by mistake. I was saying "no" to "Do I support the Ottens decision" thinking it meant Brad's decision to quit.

What do you expect from a Queenslander

Did a Wayne Campbell? Did the club want to trade Ottens after he had won multiple best and fairests and had been the most consistent player for the last 5 years?
