Who that finished above them will they go past?

Carlton maybe thats about it

Collingwood are the only team in the 8 with a shakey list agewise and if they lose Marshall Wilkie they will have gone backwards

Need one more tall defender.
If they snag De Koning, their list is set to not only play finals but compete for a premiership.

Excellent blend of small forwards and mid-sized talls.
Midfield is versatile with Wanganeen-Milera shifting through for regular minutes.
de koning is confirmed

It has to be the goal but realistically I think we're still a couple of years away from finals. We're certainly not going to die wondering though.

Will absolutely crap finals in guaranteed

Out Marshall and Steele

In aleer , silvagni , tdk , flying Ryan , Flanders, max king (other forwards going to love him taking the best defender)

Depth paddy dow, hunter Clarke , caminiti , Butler , Liam Henry , Zac jones , collard , Ryan Byrnes , Isaac keeler , shows just how far they’ve come

Could potentially sneak into the bottom half of the eight if lots of things go right, but I'm not convinced just yet.

Not considering potential overpays from a contract/trade perspective, but looking at what's actually going to change for them personnel-wise on-field next year:
  • TDK is a small upgrade on Marshall (definitely a better tap ruck), but still runs out of gas late in games
  • Aleer is just potential at this stage, don't see him having a big impact just yet
  • Silvagni strengthens their defensive depth, can he stay healthy though?
  • Ryan is solid, but hasn't kicked 25+ goals in a season since 2020
  • Flanders is a solid acquisition for a midfield desperately needing depth, but is a group of Flanders, Nas, Windhager, Phillipou, Boxshall and Garcia ready to compete with the finals-hardened big dogs yet? I don't think so. Nas is an out-an-out star, but Flanders and Windhager aren't at that A-Grade level just yet, and Boxshall, Phillipou and Garcia are still pretty speculative. Suppose the plan is to probably run Hall through there, too? EDIT: forgot about Macrae, but not sure how much of a difference maker he'll be next year, especially given they started to phase him out of that core midfield group later in the season.
Will they improve with those acquisitions? Of course. But I don't see those five acquisitions + natural progression taking a nine-win, 88% team to a 15+ win team at this stage. A full season of King playing and in-form could certainly change things, though.
