The last time a team lost its last two games and finished top of the Ladder was in 1975 with Hawthorn.

That year the team that finished 3rd got up for a drought-breaking Premiership.

That being North Melbourne breaking a 50 year drought.

But, history never repeats does it.....?

We lost our first 4 games in '75 to win the flag.

If the Swans can do it coming from 0-6 it will be a truly remarkable effort, but seems quite likely on current form.

No. Because North Melbourne won the Premiership, and for history to repeat this year there will need to be some major heart attack inducing headlines and scandals for us to have any chance.:D

Richmond is a lock after this revelation

In 1975 the team on top being Hawthorn did manage to progress to the Grand Final, before losing to North Melbourne.

If Adelaide beat GWS at home, and Richmond beat Geelong at the MCG doesn't that set up exactly this possibility with Adelaide and Richmond both hosting Preliminary Finals?

Bragging about premierships over 35 years ago is weird.
He wasn't bragging, but highlighting that if those premierships weren't won, it would be exactly 50 years since the 1967 Richmond premiership. More in line with the history of the 50 year drought for North.
