Does Monty hold a grudge against Joel Bowden?

I know he does a great job with FanFooty, and I congratulate him on that, but seriously, with those game notes, who is he trying to kid? Bowden absolutely dominated Rocca one on one, all night, but instead of hearing that, we get this.........

Its just, I think you were being a bit harsh on Bowden considering he wasn't loose in the backline or anything, he was on Rocca all night and flogged him.

Don't get me wrong, I have J-Bo in both of my teams and I think he's a great fantasy player. His touches do come awfully cheaply across the halfback line though. Also, I admit I was probably harsh on Richo saying he was "disappointing" seeing as he did manage 90, but given how the Tigers dominated possession and Presti was stuffed for the majority of the game, he should have snagged more than two goals.

Wouldn't mind seeing how many times he marked a kick backwards or sideways, surely that would tell you. He was the king of cheap tonight. He may have got 10-14 good possies, but the other 15 were on the end of chipping sideways, how many contested marks did he take?

joel bowden is an absolute machine, every week he gives away height and size and beats his opponent as well as racks up 30 possessions. so yeah, that is typical j-bo fashion and he does get cheap possessions as well but who cares... he gets the job done week-in, week-out.

I think you will find the majority of backman get easy touches when their respective teams try and set up the play.

There is no doubt Bowden's possessions come easy, as he puts himself in positions to get a bucket load of receives, due to Richmond's gameplan for the most part I suppose. In fact, I'm stupid for not having him in my Dreamteam.

So yes - he typically gets cheap possessions, but to his credit he also did a good job on Rocca last night. Not having seen many Tigers games, does he "do a job" on a key position player much?

In any case, not an All-Australian this year.

Monty - great job with FanFooty and the Podcast, you do a pretty tough job very, very well.

There are three players I would not consider leaving out of any fantasy team if I can possibly help it: BJ, Chad and J-Bo. They are the most valuable fantasy players in the game.

Heath Shaw has made a season out of cheap touches in the backline! Looks what happens when he has to actually play on someone and be acountable... he goes to crap. Bowden racks up cheapies but he also plays on a key forward every week. He is not the loose man across half back. He is prepared to run off his opponent and create drive from the backline.

Not all richmond supporters are like that. Alot appreciate the things that he does (refer above). Its just the morons that dont really understand footy and like to jump off the ban wagon that resort to bagging people like Bowden when the going gets tough. It would be these same people that said Joel was the best thing going round when he got all-australan. Ignore the idiots.

He has also had a mountin of goals kicked on him prior to this week. Rocca kicked three and if was a half decent kick would've kicked two more. When bowden has 30 possies but forward he is playing on say kicks 6, has he won the battle??

it goes to show you monty should keep running the website and focus less on the actual footy. Joel Bowden is one of the best players in the league. Sure he gets a couple of easy kicks across half back, but he also gets a high number of his possesions by being able to read the play very well and come off his man, yet not getting caught out of position. He links up very well through the midfield too

Joel can play anywhere, hes very versatile, and in the most unlikely position he should be playing he does very well.
