I'd love him in our team but I've wanted us to start getting in on the poaching act for a few years but it just hasn't happend. Reality is we'll probably end up getting a bloke who's fallen out of favour with his current club again. Someone like Spriggs, we'll pick him up for next to nothing & he'll have a good couple of years for us. Thats whats happened in the past (Barnard, Young, Murphy, McPhee, Haynes)

he was still contracted for next year and they obviously came to some sort of deal or payout for next season. so in fact they are paying him some part of whatever he was getting paid for next season.
