I don't want to lose Brad Lloyd. **** off Essendon. This has been talked about before.

ESSENDON has approached Fremantle's general manager of player management Brad Lloyd to become the club’s general manager of football.

AFL.com.au understands the brother of Bombers great Matthew Lloyd has so far resisted overtures to take on the job.

It’s believed the Bombers are in the midst of interviewing as many as four candidates for the role but Lloyd is not one of them.

However, it’s understood key figures at Essendon have sounded out Lloyd for the position and are hopeful he can be talked around.

He is seen as a key part of Freo's strategy team, and AFL.com.au understands he would be content with staying put.

I like the last part the best. I might be wrong but he lives in Victoria doesn't he?

It's a testament to him for recruiting well and resisting previous offers to continue his role of developing one of the best lists in the AFL.

I would be shattered to see him leave if he does. Freo are being head hunted instead of the other way around. How the tide has turned.

We need to watch out, we all know Essendon will offer something dodgy under the table to lure him in ;) I like how he hasn't shown interest, give em nothing Llyod!

Noooooooooooo! Brad Lloyd has been a big part of our transformation. He's got an eye for talent & has uncovered some gems alot of the time with not great picks. Now we have got the development right and strong coaching & management finally the club functions well.

Would love him at the Bombers.

Maybe our Lloydy can get in his ear....... :D

on SEN this morning KB and the other bloke were saying they heard the Bombers were after Bondy for the same position.

I have it on very good authority that the parents of Matt & Brad Lloyd are big Freo fans now. (horses mouth, once removed, impeccable source)

There's probably a bit of feeling in the Lloyd family about the way Matt was shunted during the Knight tenure.

Hopefully we re-sign him and then we tap the Velvet Sledgehammer as goal kicking coach to complete the set.

To be perfectly honest, not sure why any coach in their right mind would want anything to do with Essendon until they've had a serious administrative clean out.

So he doesn't have an essendonn connection besides his brother. He's his own man. I'm sure plenty of good positions at other clubs will be offered to him. If anything I'd think he'd rather avoid essendon.

An interesting question, if we included all Fremantle employees (players included) and had to rank them of people we would least like to lose, what would that ranking look like. I'd say Ross first, bondy second and then it gets a bit murky. Amazing how giving pick two for bondy turned out to be a win.

The conflicting issue I see is we have two well credentialed people for the one position deserving of higher roles.

Usually list managers are mushrooms and you dont hear much from them.

Here we have Bond and Lloyd both with high profiles and only one top footy position.

Something will need to give, either one leaving the club or moving to a non footy role within Freo.

I would swap that order; Chris Bond was the instigator of getting Ross and pre Ross Lyon, he set the new high standards of achievement in the club's football department.
As for Essendon, I think they will have problems for quite a while with their reputation and any high calibre management targets who already have respectable roles with other clubs, would be wary .
IMO , Paul Little is the last person who should be the head of that club. It is the worst possible time to be controlled by a ruthless businessman who believes he can stomp his way through any crisis.
The higher the remuneration offer to potential managers, the worse it looks for Essendon. They will be seen to be whoring themselves until they demonstrate they have truly changed; that means a full clean out from the past.
