Dont Despair... remember back to 1997...

The year is 1997. Adelaide had been far from the best team on the park that season winning just 13 games. We lost Roo before the end of the season. Vardy and Modra in the finals. Jameson and Sampson gone with hamstrings in the first quarter of the GF. Enter one Shane Ellen and D Jarman. And the rest, as they say, is history.

We don't have a D Jarman that is gonna tear a match apart unfortunately.

We also slipped under the guard as underdogs in all four finals.

This year we're not only the hunted, but the circling sharks can smell blood and fear.

I don't think we would be feared as much by teams tonight as we were 6 weeks ago so a drop off of 5% in their intensity may work to our advantage.

It would seem under the present system that you have to finish in the top 4 to have a realistic chance of winning the premiership. Presuming Freo beats Port next week, that leaves only one of Melbourne, Sydney, St Kilda or Collingwood in the top 4 and the way we are playing we are no certainties against Melbourne.

If that happened, that would leave either Melbourne to defeat us at AAMI 2 weeks in a row, and they are a bit inconsistent, or facing Freo on a 9 game winning streak, facing a finals gane for only the second time.

All in all, I think there's some optimism that we could win our first final and progress straight to the preliminary final :)

Absolutely! As long as we are still in it, we are a chance.

Mark Riccuito is no slouch!;)

And who could be our Shane Ellen???
I said this in another thread about 4 hrs ago, but our ace up our sleeve could be one Fred Bassett, or Johncock. Throw them up forward, nobody will have any idea how to contain them. Only drawback is our defensive structure, but might as well throw everthing at it, than be conservative and go out in straights.

Yeah, except that we don't have an X factor like Jarman to play in our forward line.

This is more like 2003 than 1997 :(
This is not a VB is god thingo.
But he certainly has Xfactor and is relaxed enough to pull a DJ type effort if we get far enough, and NC allows it.
Knights and Dougie could be compared to Sugar and Goody.
Huddo To Rehn.
Yeah I'm stretching but stay with them.;)

as always there are a lot of ifs, if Roo played today, If we converted better in the 1st, If Matt Thomas didn't ride Hentchell into the ground, if we had a different umpire.
We still have a home final in 2 weeks no matter what happens:thumbsu:

Stop being so optimistic, you lost to a Port side today that had only 24 fit players. If you were contenders you would of won by 20 goal. I'd pack up now and wait for 2023 if I was a Cows fan.

The year the Poower next make the 8? Ah, the smell of mothballs brings out the worst in 'em. Won 2 out of the last 9 and to listen to them you'd reckon they were certs for the GF next year. Poower will finish somewhere between 10 & 13 next year. You heard it here 1st.
