News "Don't go Gazza" day

Yesterdays Addy had a picture of the crowd holding up the signs in the Ablett Terrace.Well when I say crowd it was one little kid.

Thought it was more of a "Don't kick it to Gazza" day on Sunday.

Maybe I'm just looking for it more, but I'm certain I saw guys ignore him on multiple occasions.

I initally didn't think much of the concept, but my opinion was altered on Sunday. My 6 yr old niece, attending her 2nd ever game on sunday, was holding the Don't Go Gazza poster from the addy on Saturday which she'd pasted onto a big piece of cardboard & proudly displayed it anytime they kicked a goal down her end (City End). While it may seem a bit pointless to most of us, to her it was a big deal to try & convince Gary to stay! She had a great day & made her point - she was convinced Gazza saw her sign. So for her sake, well done to the organisers!

Thanks for that. And I couldn't believe how the kids reacted to the signs. They couldn't get enough of them. It was passion that I saw on their faces and the thought that they would make a difference with their signs. Bless their little souls.

i'd say there is a fair chance you won't play gold coast at skilled this year, but maybe next year. in all seriousness though, sorry for your loss, as a west coast supporter i know how hard it is, i'm sure you guys will be bigger and stronger than ever in the near future.

Gaz really stumbled when Mike Sheanan asked whether money was a greater factor than loylality amongst AFL Players at Clubs. Um and RR'd then said that the money was no doubt a deciding factor in his decision but not the only one. Yeah right!

I genuinely feel sorry for the individuals and organisations who put their time and money into this campaign with the best of intentions, when in all likelihood the decision had already been made long before and lies were trotted out all season to save face.

Youve had a good run. I feel your pain. But letting out your bitter tears will only re affirm many perceptions that opposition teams have for you.

So hang in there, relax, i know how you feel, and coming through the other side, youll get there. Theres a little thing called a cycle of football, everyone has them.

Not only that, but imagine if he did a bad knee injury or a Nathan Brown or something like that - not saying I hope he does by any means - but man, that would backfire on the AFL and GC!!

Breaking News - Gary Ablett has announced he will not be wearing the number 29 at the Gold Coast. Some assumed that he would opt for the number 5 to honour his great dad.
Instead Gary has chosen $ as it seemed more appropriate.

Yeah I am very thankful that I got 14 on mine at the start of the year!!!
