The facts are that we didnt pull up as well as collingwood and we played with to many injuries lloyd, fletcher, slatery, monfries, lucas, and watson were all injured not major but enough to help the result.lloyd was the worst injury could hardly run yesterday.2nd point we had bradley playing that is just going backwards 3RD point j johnson, campo must play next week dyson is not up to it.4th winders (huge loss) lovett murray, welsh, hille, are all in our best 22 . bolton is a good back up and thats it he is better than bradley.out of the side bradley, dyson, bolton, heffernan. STAY POSTIVE WERE 3 AND 2 (NOT A BAD START )5th point weve got hawthorn, brisbane(at dome)kangas and richmond should win at least 3 if not 4

We are and we arnt. We are bad becasue we lost two games we should have been winning but given the lead up circumstances there are things we can get out of it.
Ryders ruck work looked good.
Welsh , Hislop,NLM,Winderlich , Hille JJ and Campo should be ready for selection in 9 days time.
Johns kicked 2 along with Daveys 3 which is what we need to be getting from our second string forwards.
Hird got through the game .

We aren't top 8 material. If they were any good they should have smashed us properly by 12 goals. Thank **** they can't kick straight.

Lloyd, Johns and Lucas in the forward line isn't working at the moment.

our ruck is a problem ryder does look good there but i felt we mised him down back .

There may be a posative in that . If we need Ryder to play ruck in the future it may well open up a spot for Gumby to play as the third tall back. I know we have drafted him as a forward but it would be a good learning curve for him and i am sure he could fill the role well. good way to get some senior games into him.

Agree we are not top 8 , i never thought we have been.
As for the Johns Lucas Lloyd thing i just dont think we use it properly. We seem to focused in going to Lloyd or Lucas all the time rather than looking for Johns. Several times we went to Lucas under pressure rather than looking for Johns who was an option a few times. When we did look for CJ he marked and goaled twice.
Lloyd had a fitness test at WH this morning and was given the all clear but you could see he wasnt kicking through the ball 100% during it and it showed in todays game. He clearly wasnt 100%

agree ant maybe thats the go but laycocks a problem his lazy. i think our next 4 weeks will show how the season is going to be very important 4 weeks with a lot of good players coming back gees we miss winders

i think were top 8 ant mate with players like lucas lloyd hird fletcher at 29,30 we have to make finals because we wont have players that good it would be a major dissapointment

I know he kicked a goal but I'm blaming Bolton. He should've been delisted years ago

I would be blaming the sudden increase of turnovers which resulted in goals. Watson,Stanton x 2 ,Fletcher and Bradley. There is no question he should be delsited at EOS but it wasnt totally his fault today. Would have been nice if he took those couple of marks up forward though.

We were gone 10 minutes into the second quarter as most of our players were treading water. Nobody ran to space to create or to start some overlapping run with a handball recieve. Collingwood seemed fitter and fresher and the ran us into the ground. hopefully we get a few runners back next week and some rest into the legs of a few senior boys.

Why play him? ARGH!

Too late for all this now of course. We played him, which meant he was 100%. Still got 3 goals. I still think Lloyd and CJ run in each others paths. Having said that, they'd only played with each other a few times.

I'm just wondering how long it is before Richard 'USELESS' Cole is named in a side. Then our season is officially over.

he certainly were tactically better positioned all day and ran harder, they seemed to move it one end to the other sooooooo much easier than we did. We had an off day, too many players had an off day.

I'm confident we'll want to work hard at bouncing back, much like after the Carlton game.

LOL well i guess you dont want to hear how he went at training this morning. Lets just say his disposal would have fitted right in with todays effort

yeah we should win or 3 or 4 of our next 4 games but we shouldve beaten collingwood and carlton and i will not believe we are top 8 material till we win a game we are expected to win and we win by a big margin

although quiet, Johns proved we can rely on him to kick a goal in a pressure situation. Two important set shots sailed straight through the middle.

I would concur with the thread title. I thought Collingwood's performance was very good today. That's the little difference between teams in the AFL these days.

A comment on a few players:

Laycock - Stick with him - needs as much game time as he can. Some ruckmen take time to develop. Remember Josh Fraser's first couple of years??
Ryder - Going great at his stage of career - wherever he plays will benefit him, whether it's ruck or in the backline.
Johns - Rate him highly & agree with a previous post that they need to look for him more, particularly when Lloyd & Lucas not starring.
Dyson - Playing to his capabilities - he's not necessarily soft but may be just shy of Afl top level.
Bolton - Had his time, but is a useful fill in these days if injuries such as we have occur.
Watson - Will have his good games but his limitations are clear - may be a wet track specialist.
Bradley - Seems to be regressing if anything. He does need to have a good rest of the year.

With the ins to come in - the future is ok - we're improving bomber fans!

I thought we were out-coached today. A lot is being said about Watson but his greatest strength is winning clearances and we are ranked something like 16th for hit-outs, makes his job difficult. Our midfield is a concern it just seems to lack class. Why isn't Monfries spending more time in the centre. Johns should be developed as a CHF, Lucas is no value at all any further than 60m from goal, all he does is swing around, not look and kick long to nobody. Play him and Lloyd inside 50 they work together well. I am wrapped that Mal Michael is at the club, he was far from our worst today, when Ryder was moved from defence it really unsettled what has been a solid combination. Somebody needs to get into Bradleys head, this guys first season at the club was very promising, players don't lose talent, they lose confidence. Whereas Bolton never had talent.

Don't worry about Collingwoods innacuracy, bad kicking is bad football.

Take away Rocca's touched goal and his free that shouldn't have been played and the free against Bolton the result could have been different. They were all within 7 minutes which changes the score board pressure and flow of the game. I know that it's easy to say what about this and what about that but those 3 were obvious. I watched the replay and mmm radio all agreed in the call also.

Also they had 25 vs 19 with Bolton, Bradley and Dyson.

No need to panic. It is only round 5, we are 3-2 and playing some decent footy. We have a fairly inexperienced team so you can't expect win after win, you are going to get some slip ups along the way.

thats a good point i will beleive we are a great side when we smash a team, right now i dont think there is any team in the afl that the bombers will smash. i beleive we can beat any team but i would love to see us smash the hawks next week and i personally at the rate richmond are going if we are a good side this year we should smash them. but i dont think we will. when we smash a team that will be the day that i regard us as serious final contenders not just winning by a few goals. and i would love to see us continue our first quarter efforts for a game. anyone else been thinking why do we always get on top at the start and never continue to the next quarters?

Hows this sound....

B: Ryder Michael Lovett-Murray
HB: McPhee Fletcher M.Johnson
C: Winderlich Stanton Lovett
