I think we need to stick with these young KP types for now. All of them have shown more promise than S. Stevens, Perrie & the likes of Schell and Fitzy before them. We now need to concentrate on the smaller utility / midfielder types. I'd delist Gallagher immediately, and look at trades for Bode, Massie, Bassett and Stinger (if he wants to go home).
I'd retain all the others, but we really do need some genuine pace around the midfield and some in and under types.
I agree that the young KPPs we have at the moment are showing more promise than those we have had before. Just a shame Trent hurt his ankle again. He was in sparkling form against the Demons before he went down.
For our forward structure next year, I'd like to see Welsh and Jericho out of the square, with Hentschel and Bock at CHF, with Watts still learning the craft. Welsh in particular can be a quality player if he is given space to lead into, because his best asset is his speed. If we allow the opposition to flood our forward line and take away his leading space, he is reduced to a bit-part player. If we can get that space, most opposition defences would find it hard to match up on both Welsh and Jericho's pace.
A simple formula really;
Get space + use pace = goals.
Schuback should play as a crumbing forward with Edwards and Stiffy rotating (oops, that probably a bad combination of words) between the midfield and half forward.
In defence I'm not sold on Rutten at FB, as I want to see Aidan given a go. He and McGregor could swap KP's as opponents require.
As for your comment on the midfield, I'd be less worried about getting pace, considering we have Johncock, Schuback and Reilly, and more concerned with the in and under midfielder-type you mentioned. We desperately need to use our top pick/s to draft some "inside" ball winners.
I was watching the Cats v. Swans game yesterday, and bloody hell did Jude Bolton stand out. He constantly puts his body on the line and throws himself into the packs. IMO, he and Kirk's emergence as quality players last year was the No.1 reason why Sydney improved so much. Having those two and Maxfield tirelessly commit their bodies to the cause makes it 100% easier for guys like Williams and Fosdike to player their natural games as running (receiving) midfielders.
