Harold Martin came to our house when I was a kid, my old man was on a recruiting panel for Kyneton early 70's or thereabouts. Harold must have applied for the coaching job, all that I remember is a bloke with a big moustache who had a kick with myself and my brothers in the back yard.Wow there is a name from the past, Harold Martin. When I was around 20 years old some mates of mine were pretty handy footballers and were on AFL lists. None of them made it but they made their way to Reservoir Lakeside to play in the Diamond Valley League. Harold Martin came across as coach for a couple of years and he was a real man's man. Tough as nails and really liked his football played that way. I remember him telling the boys after a big away win against Lalor to go out and party hard, have a few beers and if you are lucky you may even get a root! Classy stuff from the super coach!
Always watched him on channel 0 after that.
