Is this the most annoying advert on tele? Dr Wright is just a little to enthusiastic for my liking, totally ignoring his patients as he babbles on about the PBS

I think the fact that he is enthusiastic about anything at his age is a credit to him.

This guy is hilarious. They should have a drinking game based on how many words he mis-pronounces.

"It's a peh-skwiption for a helfy PBS!"

As a child, when I used to watch him on Ray Martin's MIdday Show, I can't remember him having that bad a problem pronouncing words. Has he had some sort of stroke or something?

Looks like 'Virgin Warren' has some competition.

Those adverts are ****as :D

I texted the number, they send a message back, quiet funny. Also rang the number, theres a answering machine message you get, quiet funny too.

Its not so much the ad but the fact that they're whinging about how the sick and aging population of australia is costing the government too much money.

I was sitting in the doctors the other day waiting, and another ad came on the "good health" tv saying "if you're doctor hasn't prescribed you medication, don't ask for it".

stingy!

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I think Dr Wright is fantastic and wouldn't ever doubt a word from him on any subject.:) :) :)

My opinion is not influenced at all by the fact that he's Mark "Chopper" Read's uncle and I'd like to keep all my body parts in their current position.

It's not costing the government, it's costing us - the tax payers. The government is just collecting, managing and spending our money. Like any other finance manager they should reduce waste to free up more funds for other areas.

Good advice. A handfull of pills may provide temporary relief from a problem when a change of diet or exercise could eradicate it.

$500,000,000 on advertising in 5 yrs.

Sure it's worth the money!

Yes. The addition of just TWO medications to the PBS a couple of years ago blew the budget by $2billion. In one year. They were overprescribed because they the latest wonderdrugs that everyone was asking for, and it ended up costing the government enormously. Now consider how many new drugs become available/subsidised each year.

The recommendations those ads make, are very good ideas. People bltch & moan about the state of the health system, then abuse the PBS. Doesn't really make a lot of sense. Fact is that sometimes you wont need prescription drugs. And stockpiling ends up giving you next to no savings. (Plus the Gov't is really cracking down on that this year).

(But yeah, the guy's annoying. Our guess was MS, Parkinsons or a stroke. Something's definately wrong though. Very sad.)

Every time a subsidised script is filled, its kept at the pharmacy, and we send them to the Gov't at the end of the month (so we get paid!). They have a copy of all our computer records for that month, of who collected what, and how often. They have access to everything, and if they notice some patients constantly collecting scripts early or in large numbers, they watch them especially closely.

We have a number of patients the Gov't have informed us they're keeping a close eye on. So no, it's not that hard to track. :)

I have been meaning to put a post up a post about this guy for ages but I keep forgetting.

He is either very drunk or has a bad speech impediment. He also has trouble holding his head up straight, it always looks like it will wobble straight off his shoulders.

Everytime I see it, I always tell everyone at home how annoying he is and they don't seem to see it. How can they not?

He is a perfect example why people should have their perscriptions filled regularly.
