A little while back there was a lot of talk on this board that the bottom team, which at the time looked like it was going to be us, should be compensated because of the diluted drafts for the next few seasons.

Most people said yes back then but now its almost a certainty we wont finish last are people still for it?

I only ask because i've been having the same argument with a couple of my mates, who actually go for the Tiges too, who were adamant we should get compensated back then but dont believe the same way now.

For the record i was against it back then and i still am now. Teams have known about the draft concessions for Gold Coast and GWS for a while now and if they didn't speak up about it when it came in they shouldn't now.

I think most people have just been looking at the draft concession issue from a very selfish and biased view, ie. my team is down the bottom so yes concessions are only fair becuase in previous years blah blah...

From the Tigers' perspective; no we don't need draft concessions. We just need to cast the drafting net a lot wider. There is great talent, that was missed by the national drafts, in our state leagues --> Case in point Webberly.

I think small draft concessions may need to be made, to the bottom team. If this isn't Brisbane then i think they need draft concessions too. Last season they gave away 4 picks under 50. Their list is aging and I think they'll be in serious trouble come future seasons when Brown Black and Power etc retire.

I don't know what the concessions should be but I think they need to be given.

I said no at the time and i still say no.

In fact i am against all draft concessions, including priority picks. I think there should be a lottery system for the bottom sides to decide the draft order.

This would remove any talk of supporters wanting teams to lose etc for draft pics.

Bulltish they GAVE their picks away, they had the benefit of FITZROY, just because they had a f wit coach, why should they get something that any other club is not allowed to get for the next two seasons!

If we were on the bottom we wouldnt have got any assistance.......the rules should apply to all not to some like they have in the past.

I have said this over and over. The lottery system may stop the tanking talk but introduce an altogether new problem.

Example, hawthorn misses the 8 and suddenly gets the first pick - that would be very distasteful for all but hawks fans. Same Carlton.

A much better system is one that only gives priority picks when a team has been out of the finals for three years or more. In addition - there should never be first round priorities.

Now to stop tanking completley, the bottom team gets the no 3 pick and an extra mid second rounder.

I've never agreed with that article. We are were we are through poor decisions and poor coaching and developement from past coaches and leadership. Hardwick has proved that.

If we needed financial assistance I'd definately be up for that as other clubs have recieved this from the AFL in the past.

I didn't agree with it in terms of fairness but I said that the club would be absolutely bonkers not to try and wrangle some extra picks from the AFL. Obviously we're not going to get anything now. I don't think Brisbane or West Coast are bad enough to actually get the AFL to acquiesce and give them some picks, either - you've got to remember it was iffy for us and people were predicting us to win only 1 or 2 games at most.

Maybe Brisbane will get compensation because the AFL need them to be a lot better to compete with GC.

I was against it then and now, in fact all priority picks should be scrapped, just give the wooden spooner the first pick, bad luck about whether teams have benefited in the past, the problem with the world today is we reward mediocrity far too much.

Ionly wanted it because i thought we might end up with 0 wins. And because getting anything would be better than nothing.

brisbane and West Coast can't get concessions on tanking principles.

Remember even though we deserved to win we should not have beaten Sydney, Freo and Adelaide which would have placed us on 3 wins and last.

Heart alone is not going to win a premiership though as Richo and the past has shown
