We identified that our main weakness was in the midfield so we've gone out and drafted 5 mids all with points of difference between them. It remains to be seen if any of these 5 ultimately make it but our recruiters can hardly be criticized for not trying to address our needs

Lamb is the upside of this draft for mine. Didn't even have him into my 2nd round calculations, thought he'd go in the 20's for sure.

Lots of ties to victoria with both his father and grandfather playing AFL and all that jazz. Forget Gaff, i think Lamb will be the brunt of go home rumors.

Looks like we went for the vanilla mid again. Not like Sheppard etc went bad for us................
Sheppard was a stretch and no other clubs had shown much interest in him at that end of the draft. Dugggan was a genuine top 10 candidate and would not have been out of place standing on the stage with the other top 10 picks

There's a lot to like about him

Opinion mate opinion and blind faith

Blind faith? I like it :D

**** me some of the vitriol aimed at a 17yr old kid on this thread is disgusting - its not as if he picked west coast to come to, the recruiting team picked him because they saw something useful in him ffs. i hope he never gets on bigfooty and reads this shit.

just to put things into perspective, in a couple of years, do you want Laverde breaking through the pack after a Nic Nat palm only to spray it 5m above JK's head every second time, or NicNat palm it down to Yeo, bursts through a couple, hands off to Duggan or Sheed who puts it on the chest of Kennedy, lace out, 9.5 times out of 10. I know what I'd take.

People are allowed to have opinions regarding draft picks, that's the entire reason for this thread, mate.

Told the missus to leave.....

I really hope Laverde slides not just so we get him, but for 2 other reasons:

1) I get to call Keyser a dickhead for not having him in the poll ;)

2) I get to do my "i told you so" dance and rub it in Spaceclefs face
Where's my beer m8

Stoked with our draft ! Duggin is class in Sam Mitchell mould
Lamb is X factor and not vanilla at all unlike blakley
Nelson is my personal favourite so stoke we picked him up . A steal at 51
Cavka at 66 is also a steal when he was being predicted as a second rounder
Waterman with our 5th !
Hopefully we take cripps as a rookie and we have cleaned up !

im waiting mate... humour me

You can't just invent an imaginery scenario in your head with an obvious right and wrong answer using scraps of information like Laverdes "apparent" suspect kicking and then say "i know what i'd take..."

Or i can just do the same thing with Duggan - Naitanui taps down to Duggan who's too small to win a contested ball and the opposition take it away. Naitanui taps down to Duggan, tries to plod his way clear of congestion and hit up kennedy in the forward 50 but is run down by Laverde. Naitanui kicks a high ball to a 1 on 1 contest, Laverde jumps on the much smaller Duggans head to take mark of the year..... I know what i'd take.

See?

Happy with the draft selections overall and looking forward to new names in our side as time rolls on.
The same ol same ol will be changing in our side. It will be great to see some fresh faces in our team.
Something to look forward to for a change.

Then we need to get him a Little Bo Peep in Perth.

Identify a problem. Take action. Problem mitigated.

What a shit kent. Were you barracking for the Duggan pick all along? Don't think you ever actually said who you'd prefer we took.
Serious? Cockatoo all the way. I wanted Pickett all throughout the year, but obviously he was out of reach.

I just knew we'd take Duggan. He's got tri-panel written all over him.

I also see a lot of Mitchell in Duggan esp when Mitchell kicks left foot. Duggan can kick further than Mitchell also

How many picks do we have in the rookie draft?

Surely wont take Lucas now we have picked up similar type players in the draft?

Im all for Abbot, Keitel, Panos, or Cripps.

Also if we like a couple of players from the rookie draft can we delist anymore players currently on our list to enable us to take more rookies?

Sheppard went @ #7 in 2009 in hindsight I only ask one thing..who is he related to at the club ?
