Grand Final Time in the annual AFC Board - Draft Game!

I've been lucky enough to win my way through to the final and will be facing the ominous Lawrst who most people voted very highly during the comp and has collected alot of Finals votes as well. Should be a cracker

Why Allefgib should win:
My Defence matches up really well on his forwards. McPharlin and Cornes will have a field day on their match-ups and Schulz may also struggle to win much footy on Lake and will certainly have to work harder than normal the other way. Broughton on Milne is a very good match-up for arguably the most dangerous small forward in the comp - Scotaland/Ballantyne is just full of agro as a match up :)

Through the middle Kennedy/Pendles head to head is a great battle - I like Kennedy's strength in the clinches in that one. Carrots to keep Swallow quiet and again I see no good match-up to keep Bennell under control in what many expect to be the season he really takes the league by storm. Rucks will be a fascinating duel - very had to call either way at this point.

Match-ups in my forward-line are all very very good - as you'd expect in a final. I'd back Kennedy to beat Schofield and Porps to beat Gwilt. Krakoeur also to bob up for a critical 10min burst to turn the game.

Not much in it for the benches either.

Summary - defence wins premierships and I think some of my guys will offer to much on the rebound that his forward line will struggle to stop (mainly in the bigger guys).

Why Lawrst should win:

My Forwards vs his defence. Lake wont be able to play as lose as he likes to, Shultz reads the play and works way too hard for Lake to have his usual impact on a game. Hampson will run Cornes off his feat considering the old dinosar is about to fall in a heap. Ill concede Mc Pharlin will be too good for Pattionson, but he will always make a contest. Which is all that Matter when Milne, Ballantyne, Puopolo and Schneider are around to pick up the crumbs and stop the run that is so important from the backline these days.

Kennedy/Pendles? No Its Swallow vs Pendles, Swallow has the strength to make Kennedy's life hard. This guy is the number 1 tackler in the comp. This Leaves Pendles to be followed by Liam Anthony, Or Carrazzo or Bennell, Good luck with that guys. Did you forget about Kerr and Black? I think most people did, you shouldn't. They are a hard nuts with Footy Smarts. Bennell wont be able to get hold of the ball against these guys and Kennedy cant do it all. Carrazzo cant tag all of them. This is a Midfield to die for, without even mentioning the number 2 pick from the last draft who is going to have a cracker of a year.

If anyone knows how to beat Kennedy, Its Schofield, has all the practice against him. WCE defence is one of the best going around and this guy takes one of the best forwards every week. He is under rated because everyone is looking at Glass. Same with Nathan Brown, you dont become Collingwoods best KPD by luck, He is a gun! Stanley? Who the hell is that? Brown will eat him alive. Gwilt will have too much Height for porps and has the pace and smarts to go with him.

I have WAAYY to much run out of the backlines with Mattner, Johnson (you know, that strange looking guy with the funny kick who is always running the ball out of collingwoods backline) and some guy named Yarren, the silkiest player in the AFL at the moment. A bloke like that delivering the ball to my midfield and my forwardline?

Allefigib would want to hope that his forwards kick straight because the ball is going to rocket out of the backline, the ball is going to be won by my midfield and my forwards are going to make the most of every opportunity.

A win to Allefgib with his key defenders. Schulz a good player but the McPharlin/Lake double act would be able to cover Schulz and Patton. (+1 Allefgib)

A win to Lawrst with his small forwards. Milne and Ballantyne too many tricks for Conca, Broughton and Scotland. (+1 Lawrst)

Rucks dead level.

Midfield just to Lawrst. The Pendlebury factor plus experience/class of Black/Kerr just give him the nod. Scully may have a break out year but at the moment I'd regard him as a weak link. (+1 Lawrst)

A win to Allefgib with key forwards. Don't think either Schofield or Brown have the quality to handle Kennedy (+1 Allefgib)

Dead level with the small forwards/defenders. Both have some real quality here. A strength for both sides.

Nothing decisive either way on the benches.

Hmm. That hasn't helped at all.

I'm going to lean to Allefgib. The advantage with both key defenders and key forwards is decisive plus the midfield advantage I have for Lawrst is a narrow one.

Lawrst has a good team but Allef's is elite.

Congrats to Allef on winning the Pre-Season Premiership and to Freddy for winning the Grand FInal from last year :thumbsu:

People may want to read Lawrst's arguments and consider their votes again. He does make some points worthy of consideration ;)

I'm very happy with my side - esp when he wants Swallow vs Pendles..;)

Haha cheers mate, meant to be The big Josh P. Not Pendles.

I think this game is over...
Seems to be...

I therefore declare... ME as the winner. Winner of opinions...

End of season will likely tell quite a different story.

I'm assuming we'll adopt the model I posted in another thread unless someone cares enough to dig it up and put forward an alternative.

Well I voted for Lawrst, as I think both sides are very even, but Lawrsts midfield of Pendlebury and Kerr tips him over. I also rate Burger a bit more than McEvoy when healthy.

That and I just wanted to be different. :p
