Michael Still 192cm 81kg Northern Knights
Bottom age tall who has more than a touch of class. Has very good hands and is athletic. Has a bigger upside than most and is one who’s stocks may rise as the TAC season continues.

Michael Still – 192cm, 81kg – Northern Knights.
Another bottom age tall from Northern who has had a steady year. Unfortunately for this profile the games I have seen him in he has been rather unimpressive. I think I have managed to catch his three worst games and a couple of others where he has just been ok. Has played mainly as a FF but has been used at CHB a few times. Can take a good grab. His kicking can be a bit all over the place. Hard for me to line up as I have not seen the games where he kicked 4 or 5 goals.
Looking through his stats for the year the kid obviously has talent and being bottom age I suspect he would be picked up.

It seemed AD and Co. really wanted Redden here.

I think McCulloch will go at 67 if he's still around.

Tall forward who finished second overall in the TAC Cup competition goalkicking. Outstanding one-grab mark, both in contested and uncontested situations (25 contested marks and 58 uncontested marks in the TAC Cup). Michael's second half of the year was excellent, winning the Knights' most improved player award for season 2008. Playing as a key forward, he kicked 16 goals in the last four TAC Cup games, finishing second overall in the competition goalkicking. Michael displays a good attitude and is very committed to his football, putting a budding cricket career on hold.

what a coincidence

I heard the Knights won the wooden spoon? Is that true? :p

Michael Still's hightlights are a must watch...from AFL Draft Tracker. His marking is very impressive and looks a good shot at goal.

I don't think I've seen any footage of even Hurley taking marks like that.

Intresting :thumbsu:

Our best value pick imo in this years draft. Grown to 194cm and may have a bit more left. Bottom aged who is a very strong mark- his testing wasnt terrific but a dangerous forward. I think would be groomed to play Adam Mcphee high half forward role at Bendigo next year.

Spot on. I really like the look of this kid. Looks like a natural forward with good timing on his leads and a strong grab. The grab where he throws himself into the pack is a beauty. Looked very good one-on-one, but I don't think we'll see too much of him next year, unless we're hit with injuries again.

I think sometimes we get carried away with athleticism when you can never replace a footy brain. Hard to tell from a three minute video, but he looks like a natural footballer.

I think Fremantle, Port and West Coast had the best draft. I would be extreamly pleased if i were supporters (and coaching staff) of any of these three.

All picked up sliders and quality ones at that.

I really didnt want our second pick tho. Oh well, recruiters know more than me or anyone else so if they think he is something..
I would have rathered Suban.
AHH WELL.

Welcome new bombers. :thumbsu:

Port and West Coast i agree did very well but Fremantle did poorly IMO.
Poorly, they did one of the best IMO. Hill, gun, Ballantyne, Sandover medallist, Suban, we wanted him, Clarke, good ruckman, Walters, expected top 20, but don't know much about last three

I think getting Still is a very smart move. Bottom aged player who finished 2nd in the TAC goalkicking. If we didnt get him, West Sydney or Gold Coast would have snapped him up for sure. Just let him play in the reserves next year, put on some muscle and get some sped and agility. Treat it like his 2nd year of TAC cup. Then in 2010, we can treat him like a new recruit. I just hope Essendon will be patient with him.

I think he may play a fair bit more footy for the Northern Knights. Denis Pagan is the coach there now and so he would be getting good tutelage. Not need to rush him.
