After the pitiful display put on by most of our senior players today I can only look to the future and think about the picks we'll be getting.

Richmond, Melbourne and Carlton will probably only win 1 game combined. That being the soon to be infamous round 22 clash.
There is a marginal chance of Carlton beating Essendon before then but I doubt it.

If Carlton don't win another game Richmond will have the following picks in the first 2 rounds:
2,18 & 21.
If the blues happen to win 1 game we'll have picks :
1,17 & 19

Not a massive difference to us - other than getting Kruezer of course.

The major difference is to Carlton itself.
If they win a game they'll be looking at picks : 3 & 21
If they don't win another game they'll have picks:
1,4, 20.

With the Richmond picks I'd like us to either get Kruezer, a hard bodied midfielder that won't take 5 years to mature and KP defender.

If Carlton get Kruezer then the hard bodied Midfielder (Palmer maybe) a KP defender and a Ruckman with pick 21.

After the first 3 picks then best available. We cannot afford to adopt the best available approach this year. We have to address the many holes we have on our list.

Im sure theres another fiora waiting in the wings for us.

I'm tipping (not surprisingly) none of our first 3 picks will be skinny/small kids.

Although I'd take 3 like Edwards.

What about the ruckman we need? Also some tall defenders would not go astray.

The trouble is we need hard bodied midfielders, KPP, high quality crumbing forwards etc, etc.......You cannot get all of those in one draft and have them ready to play senior footy straight away.

no use picking up good players while we have a coach who will destroy them

what we have at richmond , is the blind coaching the deaf!

I agree 100%, but one thing stood out today against Geelong was that Varcoe was a couple of picks later than JON and Selwood is a 1st year player that went ahead of our pick (prior to trading for Polak).

Polak and Reiwolt is a win for us but Varcoe looks years ahead of JON and Selwoood strolled straight into Geelong's best 22.

Connors looks to be the only player in memory that is a first year player that isn't a rake. He's more of a shovel and a good one at that.

It's fine to have skinny kids but the players we pick need to be near their prime in 3 years when Deledio is, and not 5+ years.

we need good players in every position but the glaring problem is class and skill in our midfield. if we can get on top there then the defence will be under less pressure and our forwards will suddenly have the ball kicked to advantage instead of just having the ball bombed in too high or too low.
