So from the little we have seen of the latest batch of draftees, what are peoples view of this years crop so far? Is it a strong draft like 2001, what are people seeing at their clubs? Also if someone would like to rate the drafts of the last 5 years, that would be cool too.
I'll give it a quick one with no analysis.
1- 2001
2- 2000
3- 2004
4- 2003
5- 2002

---

Bit silly to rate this years draft or the 2003 draft. Even Goddard wont come of age untill this year.

2004 was surprisingly strong, especially in the Ruck and KP stocks. The midfielders balanced out after the priority picks, however. The likes of Deledio, Meesen, Tambling and Franklin have already showed good form. 7.5/10

2003 contained several classy KPPs and midfielders, but its depth was not as enticing. Several players, including Cooney, McLean, Waters and Butler have showed the midfield talent in this draft. 7/10

2002 was the weakest IMO, with many players yet to make their mark unlike 2003, which is discouraging. Wells however is already a gun, and several players like Goddard, the Brennans, Salopek and Laycock have provided highlights. 5/10

2001 was the strongest draft, with a great mix of KPP, defenders and crumbers. Ball and Judd have shown why they were taken so early, while the likes of Polak, Bartel and Hodge are developing into good players. Died out at the end but great first and second round picks. 9/10

2000 was a great draft which conatained a fantastic mix of pace, strength and height. Riewoldt is now one of the best in the business, while McDougall, Motlop, Didak and Koschitzke are slowly becoming exciting players. Some questionable choices here and there brings it down to 8/10.

All in all:
1. 2001
2. 2000
3. 2004
4. 2003
5. 2002

Great wrap up mate.

Id place the most recent draft ahead of the 2000, from what ive seen/heard thus far.

While Riewoldt is of course a superstar & Kosi looks a gun its fairly shallow after. Didak while a handy player has not show much to warrent a top 5 pick now entering his 5th season. While I beleive Livingston will still be solid he isnt a top 4 payer.

Motlop looks a potential A grade player while Andrew McDougall could yet make his mark. However, there was alot of top 10 misses in the like of Smith, Angwin, Pettifer & McMahon.

This years draft top 5 each has the potential to be a superstar. Williams at 6 could be anything while the Russel & Messen types look very decent.

Of course its hard to compare at this stage.
