Re: Time to part ways

I thought gia and ray were ok today. Not brilliant, but should still be seen as an asset rather than a liability.

Can't agree firstdog.

The Ray v Thompson match up was men against boys stuff. Ray had no impact going our way either.

Gia's disposal was aweful.

Gia is a good average player, not good at hard balls and not quick enough to be an outside runner

trade him now while ppl still show some luke warm interest

Ryan Murphy trade?

Hi guys. Over at Freo we're desperate to get our hands on two East Freo youngsters Masten and Palmer in this years draft, but to have any hope we're going to need two top 10 draft picks.

Your need for a full forward is well documented and since there's signs that Fev might be staying put, that probably leaves our Murphy as the next logical choice.

Think you'll be willing to trade your first rounder for him? He was starting to look the goods last year but I think has suffered this year from us having too many options up forward. I reckon he's much more suited to a team where he can be the sole focus as a stay at home full forward. He was regularly kicking big bags of up to 8 goals for Souths in the WAFL as their key target.

Maybe we could sweeten the deal with a 3rd rounder? Personally I'd be happy to give you Murphy and our 2nd rounder for your first rounder if it means we have a chance of getting Masten and Palmer.

And trust me when I say Murphy is a lot better than that dud that west coast sold you last year.

Re: Time to part ways

i think the dogs should just try to get TWO first rd picks thru trading, recruit the best available KKP FWD and RUCK, and hope they come good when our mid range players like coon, griff, and then williams, everitt are coming good.

Mate, I'm leaning that way too. Fevola won't be leaving, Charman won't be leaving, Hansen, Hunter won't be leaving, Roughhead, Franklin won't be leaving. Let's try and trade for the lowest picks we can get and try to build a forward line. The backline is tall and young so they will still take a few years to develop.

Re: Time to part ways

Gia or Ray??
I don't think we can continue to have so many light midfielders, we get smashed at clearances and are constantly pushed off the ball. Ray has more currency being younger, but i think we need to move on Gia, far too soft
any thoughts?

Gia has played 1 or 2 good games this year. If Gia is to remain on our list he must get AFL match FIT and find some pace. Our side cannot carry slowies in Higgins and Gia on both flanks. We need a nippy swooper/crumber.

How many times does the ball go to ground and get swept away without pressure from our forwards?

Re: Ryan Murphy trade?

Well Mcdoogall I think was kicking big bags like that in our seconds aswell, so it doesn't make much difference how they perform there only when the play in the big leagues. I have seen Murphy play and he is good but to be honest I'd rather not have him.

u can keep him...he's not OUR answer.

Re: Ryan Murphy trade?

I don't think McDougall was ever as prolific as Murphy in the WAFL though. Murphy kicked over 70 goals for Souths in his first season over here as an 18 year old.

Looks like Dogs will finish with pick 5, Murphy is not worth pick 5. Kicking bags in the WAFL. Big %&*#@%# deal.

Re: Time to part ways

Higgins.... slow? You talking about the same Higgins I am?

I read that too and was like, huh? If anything Higgins is one of the more speedy personel we had on the field today.

Re: Time to part ways

Dont' trade for trade sake, have a dip at clark from brisbane, if not go for picks low in the draft

Thats not what I meant. Trade according to what Eade promised written in the Herald Sun last week when he said tough decisions will be made.

Re: Time to part ways

tough calls would have to be made on: GIA, Power, McMahon, Ray

Re: Time to part ways

ray was allways going to take longer than a strong bodied player from a football background. So why trade him when he is half finished?

Re: Ryan Murphy trade?

If Murphy was the only 'talent' on offer i would rather us keep the pick and develop our own tall forward.

Hes not worth pick 5.

Re: Time to part ways

So you are all for another set like 4 years back of Rawlings, Street, Koops and Veale?

No-one is suggesting this.

And nothing Eade and Clayton have done suggest they will do anything that compromises list development. Get a grip.

Re: Time to part ways

As if. They will both stay.

The only one that will be concerned come trade time will be Jordy.

What are peoples opinions on Dowler from the Hawks. I havent seen a great deal of him. What would he be worth? 2nd rounder?

But what happens if we end up with another Tim Walsh and Nic Bruton? Then we are screwed for another 10 years.

Re: Ryan Murphy trade?

Hes not worth pick 5.

Not on his own. What about him and our second rounder (pick 22ish - depending what happens with other teams' priority picks) for pick 5?

Or even him and both our 2nd and 3rd round picks (22ish and 38ish)?
