SCOTT GUMBLETON (2), Peel Thunder, 18, 197 cm (6'4 1/2"), 92 kg ((202)
Strong marking, courageous, and agile tall who can play either end. All-Australian at under-18 level this year after representing WA in 2005 and 2006. Played 15 senior games for Peel this year.

LEROY JETTA (18), South Fremantle, 18, 177 cm (5'8"), 76 kg (167)
Dual All-Australian at under-18s who has excellent evasive skills and goal sense. Super quick indigenous graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy. Played six senior games in the WAFL.

TOM HISLOP (20), Tassie Devils, 18, 184 cm (6'), 86 kg (189)
Powerful player who is strong overhead and a prolific ball winner. All-Australian under-18 this year, averaging 20 disposals and ranking No. 1 for tackles. Excellent speed and endurance.

ALWYN DAVEY (36), South Adelaide, 22, 178 cm (5'8"), 72 kg (158)
Quick left-footed small forward, kicked 39 goals and finished fifth in club best and fairest. Younger brother of Melbourne's Aaron.

BACHAR HOULI (42), Western Jets, 18, 181 cm, (5'9"), 86 kg (189)
Hard working left-footed goal kicker. Vic Metro under-18 representative this year. Consistent ball-winner and fine leader. A devout Muslim who prays five times a day according to his religious dictates. Is the first Muslim in AFL ranks and hopes to be a role model for others to follow in his footsteps.

KYLE REIMERS (47), Peel Thunder, 17, 184 cm (6'), 78 kg (171)
Forward who attacks the ball fiercely, provides good defensive pressure and kicks goals.

The club says: "We're really happy. Gumbleton at pick two is a fantastic pick for the future of our club and to get Jetta at 18 was an absolute steal. We wanted to really get some speed into our midfield, and some class, and some toughness. When you add today's results with Mal Michael, it's really improved our list." - Adrian Dodoro, Recruiting Manager

Analysis: The Bombers loaded up at the "super draft", taking its six players inside three rounds. Gumbleton looks as top notch as any No. 2 draft pick has, and Jetta and Davey bring speed. Each draftee, except possibly Reimers, looks ready to go.

I was looking up articles and stuff on Kyle Reimers and came across this. Interestingly, pretty much everything matches up with what each player has offered so far this year. Most draft analysis are a load of crap, but this one is absolutely true.

They said that "Each draftee, except possibly Reimers, looks ready to go". IMO, Reimers will be the next draftee to get a game. he has been the most consistent apart from Davey so far this year. I saw somewhere else that Essendon have labelled him a "project player". I dont like when Essendon calls players that, because I immediately think of Bolton, Henneman, etc. Having siad that, Ive been really impressed with Reimers. He is younger than the other draftees so it would be a bonus if he played this year anyway, but hopefully he can get a couple of senior games this year and then bulk up abit in the preseason so he can play 22 games next year :).
Thats what I'm hoping anyway :o

I don't know where the imperial heights came from but they are inaccurate.

197 cm is not 6'4 1/2 184 is 6'1 and 178 is 5'11

You seem to rate Reimers very highly. I cannot wait to see him in the seniors. What sort of a player is he?

He is a midfielder/forward. I rate him highly because every time I see him play, he plays well. On the other hand every time Ive seen Hislop, he sems to have a poor game. Its probably just luck of the draw, but thats the way I see it.

i doubt reimers or gumbleton will get a game this season as much as i would like to see either of them get a game..

both are forwards and our forward line functions well atm... i want the bombers to make the finals this season more than anything so im with playing experience this year.. the fact that reimers was labelled a project player makes me nervous about him too.

i think jetta will come back into the side soon along with lovett, perhaps dempsey may get a run if his form warrants it and hislops and outside chance but imo the rest of the youngsters wont get much of a showing unless we have a breakdown of injuries...

We probaly did get better than any other team in that draft.

Jetta top 7 we picked him up at 18

Hislop top 15 we picked him up at 20

Davey has been the most damaging player out of that draft this year we picked him up at 36

Houli top 30 picked up at 42

Reimers would probaly go close to number 1 in the coming draft a bargain at 47 in the year before. he was 17 at the start of the season remeber. hes got more time to grow and mature.

i have heard alot of good things about reimers i would like to see him in action. havnt quit got around to seeing a bendigo game on the telly but i would really enjoy to see some of these young prosepects and how they would fit in the team.

Reimers can play off the half back line. He is a pretty creative kick and has good vision. Combine that with good agility and speed and you have a promising half back. But he also knows how to get on the end of a goal. What a problem to have, a player a gun at both ends. So happy we picked up Kyle!

You have no idea.

Reimers possible #1 pick??? lol.

He was drafted young but so were alot of players. Ben Reid, Andrejs Everitt and James Sellar all went in the top 12 and were younger than him. So you argument has no weight.

Gibbs is also 2 months younger than Reimers and went number 1. I think Reimers is a great player from what i've seen and has a great future but i think possible number 1 is a bit of a reach here. He will be a good player in his own right though.

Possibly got the call because there was speculation he was a next year prospect. He has probably surpassed expectations, i would have no hesitation taking him earlier than 47.

Bottom aged players more foten than not get picked alot later than their ability says they should. Number 1 may be stretching it given some of the names being thrown around this year but he would of definitely moved into the 2nd round if not a first rounder. The 3 you mentioned are all KPP so naturally have more pull than a flanker/pocket player and will usually go higher on position rather than talent.

As for Gibbs with the media circus he recieved I reckon criminal charges would of been laid if he didnt go #1. Good young player but seeing how this draft has settled in leaves alot of room for thought on where he actually should of gone and I doubt it's top 10.

Gibbs is still a top 3 prospect from last draft. He is bottom aged as well, and like Cooney probably just need's a season to adjust. What he does is quality.Although he has not had the impact previous number 1 picks have had he has not been bad or anything. The hype was a bit unwaranted but he still is an elite prospect.
