Pets Dream Dog Breed

So in a couple of months we are going to add a Finnish Lapphund to our family.
Here is an image I took at an event a couple of weeks ago:

This is really my dream dog breed.
They tick basically every single box about what I'd want in a dog breed.
Perhaps the only other breed I would consider as a "dream breed" would be the Eurasier:

These dogs are bred by combining Chow chow with Keeshond and later on adding some Samoyed (in a very broad explanation of their origins) and are, as far as I can tell, virtually non-existent in Australia to this point.

The Finnish Lapphund was imported in the 90s and the first litter was born in Australia in 2001.
Despite being a new breed they have flourished because of their beautiful balanced temperaments and striking features.
Though a pup will set you back approx. $1600 these guys are a loving and fun companion.
Having spent a fair time around the breed I can't wait to have a Lappie running around our house.

So, if you are so bold, what breed of dog is the one that you most want but can't have yet? Or maybe you have it and would like to explain why you think they are so awesome? Look forward to hearing you opinion.

A direwolf, preferably Ghost.

A direwolf is a close relative of the wolf, but larger and stronger. A grey direwolf in a white field is the banner of House Stark.

Direwolves can grow as large as ponies. In proportion to their bodies, their legs are longer and their heads are larger than normal wolves. Their muzzles are also longer and more pronounced.

Thought to be extinct beyond the Wall.

But in all seriousness, I'd love to get a golden retriever at some point in the future

I did some research on the Olde English Bulldog. It's basically a fix of everything that's wrong with the modern bulldog by breeding it back to what the original bulldog was. They made sure to keep it docile though. The originals were aggressive. I talked to some reputable breeders and came within a dog hair of buying one of these dogs. Then I realized it would be a 12-16 year commitment. I'm not good with commitments. Actually, it may be more accurate to say I hate commitments and avoid them like the plague. I like to spontaneously bolt of of town on a whim and I don't want to have to worry about an animal. It wouldn't be fair to the animal, and not fair to me to be shackled. So I'm doing without. I love dogs though - other people's dogs.

My dream dog would be a type that is born toilet trained, stays a cute puppy and then croaks off after about three months. I'd get one of those every once in a while.

Not gonna lie I'd love a pet fox... Sadly illegal here, much like all awesome pets, but I shall still live the pipedream of someday owning a pet fox and naming it Miles Prowler.

As far as I can tell it is actually legal in some parts of America etc.

Had a Labrador and he was a beauty. First dog, but only lived till 15 months.

Labrador's are my dream dog breed. They're just great dogs. Smart, love to sleep, they'll sit with you, they eat anything you give them, they love walks, they love playing around, they're very happy to see you, they're cheeky and so on. Well that's what my lab was like.

Interesting. Regular British Bulldogs only live to about 8 years old. I did some research on breeds when I was looking for a dog. I ended up with a Boston Terrier. They are much smaller but we live in an apartment so it suited our lifestyle. He is a great dog! Playful and loyal and great to take outdoors and camping. They don't need much grooming or extra attention.

Any of them? I've heard some horror stories with that. A lot of them unfortunately are too far gone and remain very aggressive. Otherwise it is a good option.

They do fine.
There's been no indication that, with a little bit of thought from the owner, they have suffered over the summer.
From what I understand they suffer no worse than the likes of Samoyed or Pomeranians.

I don't know if it is quite the same but there is a breed called Shiba Inu that have a similarish (in a loose way) physical appearance:

I had a samoyed growing up. Awesome dog, would love one again.

I live with a pure breed English staffy right now, she's gorgeous and very playful/loyal. Would also be happy with one of those for my own in a few years.

Samoyed's are excellent dogs.
I do hear that they have a tendency to be quite the destructive breed though.

Have a Siberian Husky, best dog ever. Cleans himself, is Über friendly and is hilariously disobedient at times, still love him

And the heat doesn't actually bother them, their undercoat works like house insulation and keeps them cool in the summer as well as warm in the winter.

No pittys or staffys or rottys.

Some of the best dogs I've ever met have been rotties, have never met a bad one. Know a few awesome bull terriers and pitbulls also. All dogs are born awesome, it's shitful owners that turn them bad.

In saying that I've never met a chihuahua I liked...

It's disappointing that so many Huskies end up in rescue shelters.
It appears that many owners haven't thought through the full implications of owning such a magnificent breed.

Agreed, they're a lot of work with keeping them exercised and groomed, but definitely worth it.

Will probably pick up another one from a rescue someday, I don't really want to do the puppy stage again and like you said, too many people buy them because of movies like Snow Dogs and Eight Below, without doing their research. Very sad

We seriously considered a Husky, as my wife wants a dog that she can run with.
