I was like a deer with no eyes to a TED till reading through this thread. I don't know how you could expect everyone to know what one is either!

If I go to any bar and ask for a "TED" will I get the drink or some old codger?

But seriously, to expect evryone to know your lingo is pretty bad.

Just thinking about some other drinks you could shorten.......
BAD = Bourbon and Dry
CED = Carlton Extra Dry
SOC = Scotch and Coke
ASO = and so on...................

Dude, you are a complete spud if you do not know what a TED is. Its not something that bigpapa and Goodie have made up, its common knowledge. Suggest you never go to a bar again. Ever.

DUDE, Ive worked in, managed, and travelled almost all over Australia in pubs. I still go to pubs/bars/hotels regularly and have never heard of a TED or a beer being referred to as a TED.
Maybe its a Gippsland thing?!?

Well maybe you're a cocktail specialist or you have too much sperm in your ears when people place an order Paris, because I've lived in three states and Tooheys Extra Dry is always known as a TED.

To be honest, early pubs that I worked in and then went on to manage didn't stock that shite beer so couldn't comment reguarding that (sorry). Other pubs had it and it was referred to as Tooheys Extra Dry....please.

Oh yeah, forgot to add ny ex housemate used the TED phrase all the time and i've personally disliked the phrase since then so if I was to ask for one I would ask for a "Tooheys Extra Dry....please". However, the TED [hrase is rather the popular one - BDO for the last few years it's all ted, ted, ted.
