During a driving test in which you use your own car with NO instructor. Does someone else need to be in the vehicle or is it just the hopeful driver and the tester?

Thanks

Going for Ps? It's just the tester and the hopeful.

Latter this year. Just having a disagreement with my parentals about if someone else needs to be in the car.

They are under the impression that someone else needs to be there as a responsible driver.

If you do the test by your self does the tester sit in the front or the back.

In QLD and I presume everywhere else in Australia its just you and the tester. They sit in the passengr seat obviousaly.

When I went for my P's (in Victoria), it was just me and the tester, with the tester sitting in the back seat.

I would have thought that they would have sat in the passenger seat, but not on this occasion.

why would you need/want anyone else in the car?

all you need is the tester and you. as far as I know they'll always sit in the passenger seat so they can see better and/or grab the wheel/handbrake if you're gonna crash.

LOL, no wonder there are so many shit drivers out there...

When I went for mine you had the learner, instructor/fully licenced driver and the tester in the back. Until you get your licence you are only a learner driver therefore needing fully licenced driver in the passenger seat and I'm quite sure the tester wont want to be responsible for your driving.

We must have got our licenses in the same era, the tester & the instructor iin the car. Though one thing would have been different, I wore a very short skirt for my test, passed no problems. :D

I've succesfully got mine 3 times (maybe wore footy shorts once) as I succesfully lost it twice. I finally got on a full licence at the age of 30, thats with nearly 5 years disqualification along the road there. There were a fair few pubs along that road. :o

You idiot. :D

Are TAC still your sponsors, "Drink & drive, you're a bloody idiot"?

When I went to obtain my P's (Victoria), I had the options of either: Have your driving instructor sitting there with you, or, have no instructor with you at all in the vehicle. I went the latter (never had professional driving lessons).

It's been a couple of years since I received my P's, so, the rules might have changed since then. The best solution would be to go down to VicRoads (for Victoria) and seek clarification on the matter. The website might help you in your cause as well.

Just you and the tester.

I'd reccommend lessons though. They're really good. Plus you feel a little more comfortable with a familar face in the seat next to you rather than in some cases cranky old men/women who only seem to want to fail you for the most pointless of reasons.

Lol, just remembering going for my P's. flipping was shitting myself half the time. Not a good way to be. :p

Had my P's about 5 months now, and got in my first bingle the other day. :D Car slammed into the back of me. woot.

I had my instructor in the passenger seat, but it was oddly distracting because he made an epic effort to sit completely motionless & silent to ensure he didn't give anything remotely close to a hint or reaction to anything I was doing. Felt abnormal considering he had been the complete opposite for every other second I had driven that car.

Haha true, mine wasn't too bad. She only talked when she needed to and was like 'uh uh, do you know what you did wrong there?' and 'you know you can do that better'.

I think I even asked her when they pull you over at halfway if I was meant to put it in Park. As soon as I asked I'm like 'wait a minute, I dont think Im allowed to do that...'. She nodded, barely. :D

It was good also, cos she knew the tester. So they were talking for the first few minutes. Helped with the nerves...

Probably didn't want to look like making any signals. My instructor was reaching up for the grab handle and the tester told him off.

In SA, I did logbook with a drving instructor, and when it came to the final task (the test) he was the assessor. He could have failed me for failing to giveway turning onto a main road, but he didnt :thumbsu:. Probably realised that he owed me a free lesson that I never got.

Never mind, I got my P's five and a half years ago, had my full licence for 3.5, and have never (amazingly) had a fine or anything remotely close to an accident. :thumbsu:

In Queensland I think you have to have a person on an open licence wait at the carpark to prove you didnt drive to the test illegally.

My instructor was probably the total opposite, joking with both me and the tester.

I got my full licence 10 years ago, I can't even remember who was in the car with me for the driving test. Haven't owned a car since then, have driven maybe once or twice in the past 10 years.

Such a loophole in the system when an inexperienced "driver" like me can technically be out there on the roads with a full licence.

Now I've started having driving lessons again! Fun and games.

When I got mine, 2 years ago it was me, my driving instructor in the passenger seat and the tester in the back.

Tester failed me for 'failing to give way to a pedestrian' who was walking down the street, except he nodded for me to complete the turn so I did so. Parked it and got instantly failed, instructor thought it was a shit call and went back into Vic roads and argued with her for almost an hour, she put it down to a judgement call and passed me. :D

Passed and failed the same test, lol.

Yer you friggin shit yourself about it the entire time leading up to the test. I basically spent the entire 25 minutes just chatting to my tester. Made a couple of mistakes and he gave me 100% as I think we were to busy having a laugh than doing the test.

When I went for my P's earlier this year, It was just the tester and myself in my dad's BMW. Although they do recommend your instructor to be in the car with you.
