I was fairly comfortable with where Carey was at a few weeks ago, and hoped that improvement would come with increased match exposure. Unfortunately the reverse is true and he had a dead set shocker tonight following a pretty poor effort against West Coast. Wakelin absolutely took him to the cleaners last night. He beat him in every one on one contest, Carey couldn't take an overhead mark to save his life. His confidence was so shattered that he was dropping simple chest marks and when he came up the ground he was turning the ball over with his kicking. If Carey can't rise to the ocassion of a showdown, he's not going to rise to the ocassion of playing his old side. A couple of weeks for the other North will do him good.
Secondly, when I saw that Port's best defender was taking Carey at the start of the match I thought that that could only be a good thing for Mark Stevens. Yet for some reason Stevens had no presence up forward. He wasn't used as a forward target at any point in the match; I don't understand why our midfielders weren't kicking to him.
Thirdly, Burns had a good match. He was about the only one that could finish up forward in the first half. I'd say he's now our second best off season recruit (after Torney, ahead of Carey).

I guess that makes 1 from 5 for me also.
