Impossible to split IMO.

Both have been very impressive and have shown more than enough to suggest they are part of our best 22.

We have clearly developed a harder edge to our game this season and there is absolutely no doubt that both Duigan and Laidler are 2 of the number of reasons why this is the case.

Hold a gun to my head and I probably go with Laidler. Quick becoming one of my favourite players and at just 21 years of age has a hell of a bright future in the game, and at the Carlton Football Club. Have to admire Duigs but his longevity in the top flight is obviously far shorter due to his age. Nevertheless, both are making a huge impact and any accolades that come their way as a result of their performances are absolutely deserving.

Both excellent picks.

Duigan is the "steal" of the draft. :thumbsu:

I couldn't agree more. When we traded for Laidler and drafted Duigan, my inital thoughts were something along the lines of "ok, they've gone out to get these two guys, so I guess they must have SOMETHING positive going for them". When I look back now, that was one epic understatement. Both guys have really been revelations for our team this season, and should be around for a lot longer. Duigan has probably had the biggest impact, with his run from the back-line and solid defensive play. However, Laidler has been a beauty for us as well, and has looked really solid defensively as well. He's also still very young... not that Duigan's an old man either. I have both well and truly in my starting 22, and I look forward to cheering for them for years to come. :thumbsu:

I voted Laidler just to put some balance in the numbers :)

I don't think you can really split these guys. Similar levels of courage, but then differing strong points that complement each other, and our backline, beautifully.

Impossible to choose between the two of them. Both are attacking half back flankers with great big balls of steel. At the end of the day though, Duigan is a bit in front of Laids only because he is a more mature body. Playing in the SANFL has given him an edge that Laids will pick up in a couple of years as he becomes a bit more mature.

They will both be awesome for the club and will definitely be a part of #17

Impossible to split. Duigan has surprised me more. Still rough around the edges but his courage, endeavour and will to win the contest is unmatched. If we had him from his first year out of rep footy he'd seriously be a club leader and a cult hero. Not a bad word to say about him.

Laidler is more relaxed but still as courageous. He is a bit more reassured with his disposal but also has more time due to marking and holding up play. Great pick ups!

Both really add to our defence.

Duigan is as courageous as they come and really does drive through on the rebound.

Laidler is more composed, with better skills, but a little slight on frame, which I think he will fill in order to help us cover talls in the future

Agree strongly with your comments.

One comment I will make is that Duigan had success playing forward in the SANFL and excelled there in finals.

I do not know if Laidler has played forward and would be keen to know.

Not sure who is better TBH.

What I'm surer of is that both compliment each other beautifully. Duigan provides the physical contested nature we need in the back half that has been missing for years. Laidler provides the intelligence and great decisions.

Great gets by WHs.

Really illustrates that need-based drafting has its place.

We have had a soft back half for years and now its great to see a physical defender make an impact in our back six. Sorely missed over the last half decade.

Carlton's need for a player of this type has really helped duigan thrive. Been given every chance and made himself important.
