if he is the best player going around, it shows how far the league has really slipped since the late 90's

today he shot 3-13 free throws in a Spurs loss. 3-13!!!!!

Take me back to the days of Malone, Jordan, , Chamberlain,Stockton, Barkley, Olajuwon, Pippen, Wilkins, Abdul Jabaar, Russell, Thomas...

when the best players on the planet were real basketballers

Fishing attempt aside, i'd say he's one of the top 3 players.

I cannot split Kidd, Garnett and TD. Each has areas where they excel and each deserves to be considered the best in the world at times.

TD would be a massive success in ANY era.

Say what? Tim Duncan is one of the few remaining "real basketballers" in the league...

Exactly right.

TD wouldn't be out of place in the 1960's, in fact any bygone era. Very old school.

all im saying is that the game and the players aint what it used to be

Go the underarm

Go the banker!

I remember playing this one team and each time we played them this guy would bank his free throws at almost 100%.

I like how you didnt mention the fact that Duncan had led the Spurs on a 13 game winning streak before this game.If your going to go fishing, check your facts before hand.

How was it in the good old day's watching wilt the Stilt and big bill going at each other?

Out of interest, what facts did he get wrong?

Successful expedition it seems.

He didnt get any wrong, just left out how Duncan and the Spurs had been playing until that game.Everyone plays a bad game every now and then.

as for biting.it took me a couple of days but yes, I took the bait:cool:

A healthy Shaq is the best player in the league, end of story.

He in unstoppable, the only way you can stop him is sending him to the line 30 times... in which by the end of the game he'll still end up with 30 pts.

Agree, though he does constantly dissappoint me slightly as I think he coudl potentially be the greatest player of all time if he just had a drive to be so dominant.

they have been saying that for the last 2-3 years. its time to move on,stop living in the past.he's not 100% and he wont be ever again.the weight problem will make it worse for the big fella.the same thing will happen to TD and happened to Hakeem and Ewing and D-Rob.

You can still say he is nearly unstoppable on offence, but have you seen him play play this year?his defence is lacking in intensity. He can focus for 5-10 minute periods but just doesn't have the fitness.

The play-offs will show this up.with Malone and shaq in the frontcourt a player like Duncan,Randolph,Garnett,Webber even Walker and Dirk will give them fits over a 7 game series. The lakers are very good but they have a few holes in their defence.Even the glove is slowing down.

should be a geat play-offs though. You have the HOF Laker's,the defending champs Spurs.KG and his new-look T-wolves(if he can get past the 1st round).Sac-town will be very dangerous if webber can be fit and firing by april.Dallas can do anything and portland are, well portland if they make it.Denver might scrape in and Houston's defence will be well suited for the play-offs.Even the clippers might make it,and elton brand is a very-underated player.Him and maggete could do anything.

this could be one of the greatest play-off series ever.

from Pro Basketball notebook........

'.....Speaking of Duncan, much was made - and rightfully so - of his missing his first nine free throws Saturday in San Antonio's improbable home loss to Philadelphia. What the folks at ABC failed to point out was that Duncan also had missed his last seven free throws in his previous game, meaning he missed a staggering 16 straight from the line. You almost have to try to do that.'
