With Dustin Fletcher's 300th coming up this coming weekend, feel free to post away praise and positive sentiments.

Me first, been following GoGo Gadget man since he was a lanky school kid playing on the greats, lockett, dunstall, ablett etc. Have loved his dogged determination, his consistency and his booming kick in's! The goal at the dome a couple of years back is my favourite highlight.

Love ya Fletch!

This weekend?
aww. it's at the gabba.

It may be a one eyed view, but I see Fletch as the best backmen of his generation hands down. The criticism is there that he doesn't always play on the best forwards but honestly the guy is everywhere in that backline helping out at every contest spoiling where others can't, at the bottom of every pack where most guys his size wont get near the ground and just his incredible composure and ability to execute skills under pressure is immaculate.

Does not get the respect he truly deserves.

A legend of the EFC, and a legend of footy in general.

What a champion, I cannot offer enough deference to this man....

It's a shame I won't get to be there. I don't think I've ever seen a 300th, at least it'll be on Ten.

Dustin; You're a dead-set champ mate.
Hopefully the boys can lift this week for your wonderful achievement.
:thumbsu:

Without doubt, he is the player I am fearing retirement most, and the hardest to replace.

More than Hird (hard to believe), more than Lloyd, more than Lucas.

What an amazing servant to our club.

Absolutely one-of-a-kind. Can never question his attitude or his skill. He's still got his legs after all these years! His acceleration for his body-type is incredible. A football brain and imagination. Brings out the best in players young and old. Stands up when the pressure is on. Adapts to changes in the game amazingly well, in a career that has spanned the years in which football has changed its most dramatically and quickly. Is a genuinely good bloke to fans -- I remember once when I was a youngin' he was very gracious, considerate and kind to me out in public.

More than an asset to the game -- a unique treasure that must be remembered in the same way that Hird and Lloyd will be.

With all that in mind, I think it's safe to say that he epitomises the Essendon Football Club.

Agree 100%.

One thing that really irks me is that he used to do a damn good job on the oppositions best forward, then Sheedy stopped playing him in that role for what was the good of the team (as it freed him up to rebound and control the D50 zone more) - however a number of commentators (mainly Walls) used this to criticise him/us. However, opposition coaches soon realised what a great tactic this was and now we see other full backs like Scarlett doing the same thing, yet they are never criticised for this, only praised. Complete hypocrisy.

In short - you're a legend Fletcher. Absolute Champion not only of the Club but also of the whole game.

LEGEND! greatest FB of my time, Scarlett only copied him, he's set the standard of the FB for years. here's hoping he can hold Brown/Bradshaw to 0 goals

Has always been the most important name on the team sheet for me. Whenever he's missed in the past I've always felt like the team is half as good.

Congratulations and well done Fletcher!

I remember his first game well - the draw where 'Sticks' kicked it out on the full after the siren.

Who would have thought that young lanky lad in the ruck would prove to be such a Champion!

Last remaining baby bomber, and one of the last players from one of the greatest eras of the EFC. Going to be a sad day when he decides to depart.

Congrats Fletch, one of the best.

If he didn't get that bullshit suspension in the 2003QF v Fremantle, he would have had it in Melbourne this week, or last week (or possibly even against Carlton, given we could have beaten Port with him in).

For shame, AFL.

One of the greats. Certainly one of the best defenders to play the game. Vastly underrated.

Our most important player for a few years now with his defending and kicking.

Has shown in 5 weeks that he should definitely play on next season.

if its not live, @$#% it

It's a Sat night game on Ten, normally they are live or slightly delayed so well worth watching for those without Foxtel.

I agree, he will be the hardest to cover. I feel he is one of the most underrated players in the EFC and the whole league. He's the sort of player that will win you games without being a 'flashy' type player. Although some of the things he does sometimes still leave you breathless.
