Recommitted Dylan Stephens [re-signed for two years]

You seen this kid play? Does his trade value harm every time he plays, would have been better for Sydney to sit him in the VFL for two years. The Pies nabbed a future second for Nathan Freeman when he bailed; if Sydney can get the same they should take it and run.

What clubs has dylan actually been linked to? Pretty sure fremantle were interested in draft year and we are chasing outside speed

I'd say it's slightly different to the norm here because of how highly we rate Stephens, and the fact that he'd be on sh*t all money.

With players like Aliir, Jones, and Titch, it wasn't just a matter of not wanting to keep players that didn't want to be there, it was also an acknowledgment that we were better off with the extra cap space if we let them go. I don't think that will come into consideration with Stephens.
He's out of contract. You'll have to come up with $350k+ to keep him.

Except Stephens and Bell are already on basically minimum wage, and would replaced by another 2 players on minimum wage, and give us 0 cap space?
Stephens and Bell wouldn't be on minimum wage after they've re-signed.

Probably 2 different convos here in terms of worth

Honestly if someone is offering Stephens 350k on exposed form then good on them, I'd hope we aren't matching that without it being heavily contingent on performance bonuses.

With Bell, I can't see him getting an offer of that size, I'd love to keep him as Midfield depth, and hope he develops like Wicks has, but wouldn't be paying much money to do so and he wouldn't fetch much at the trade table anyway.

But can't see how the cap space argument really works here, if we are tight on cap space (which is possible because we've improved quicker than we though we would, and the cap hasn't increased like we thought when we backloaded some big contracts), the rumour is Collingwood are also tight on cap space, so why are they going to pay overs in salary for 2 unproven mids, instead of just drafting 2 cheaper unproven mids?

You mean the same Nathan Freeman that was perpetually injured and hadn't played a single game by the time he was traded? Right...

The only reason he's done his trade value any harm this season is because he's been played out of position. He looked very promising at the end of last year, and is still rated very, very highly from within the club.

Don't see that being a problem given we've been linked to Lipinski, as well as a couple of Carlton mids. Not sure why we would bother having a crack at them if we don't have the money to re-sign Stephens.

The only player who we might lose to salary cap issues is Hewett.

Crows bound. Lock it in Eddie.
Based on what? If there's also interest from Victorian clubs, what automatically means he's Crows-bound?

His family lives in Mildura.

It’s true he’s from Mildura originally, but young Dylan attended boarding school in Adelaide for all of year 11 and 12 on a footy scholarship. He played a lot of school footy and also had 2 years in the SANFL system with Norwood.

The school and the club are strong communities. I’m sure it won’t be a deciding factor for him, but you’d be wrong thinking he has no base of close friends in Adelaide

He has no connection with Melbourne. He is from Mildura and spent two years in Adelaide.
In his draft year he said "I’d love to go to the Crows and I’d love to stay here (in Adelaide), but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.”

If the Crows value him, and he doesn't re-sign with the Swans, my money would be on the Crows. I don't know that to be the case, just a logical guess.

Garbage. He'd be weighing up both SA & Vic clubs. This belief that he has allegiance to the Crows based on 2 years of education in the state is just fantasy.

Garbage? He has school friends here, none in Melbourne. He has football club links and friends here, none in Melbourne. He said he would like to play for the Crows and stay in Adelaide, never said that about Melbourne, nor any Vic club. Just like happened with Hatley, he has a pull to Adelaide that he doesn't in Melbourne.
Fact.
Now if you read what I said, you would have seen that I mentioned if the Crows value him, he would be mostly likely to come here. In other words, if the Crows offer him 150k a year, but a Vic club offers him 350k, then money talks. But all been equal, Adelaide is the more likely destination.
If you are so sure what I said is garbage, and he is just as likely to want to play in Melbourne, put a wager on it. You have 10 teams who could put a better offer to him, and I have just one.
If what I said is so wrong, then you have a 10-1 advantage he goes to Melbourne, why wouldn't you put a bet on it.
Let's say the loser closes their BF account?
You in? Money where mouth is etc?

How do you know he doesn't have friends in Melbourne? You don't. How do you know he'd rather live in Adelaide then Melbourne? You don't.

Hately completely different scenario. No Victorian clubs were interested in him. He spent his entire life in Adelaide & his family is there.

Weren't you the same poster claiming that Horne-Francis didn't want to leave SA? You have a track record of posting garbage.
