Any users of e*trade have problems today? Their code was a mess and couldnt even log on.

Lucky there were no worthwile trades today, would there be any legal ramifications if you were unable to trade due to their crap website being down?

Cheers Frodo. Was thinking about changing to them as our Credit Union are now offering free access to that.

I must agree entirely. I find Commsec far superior to the 'average at best' e trade....

Yes, i beleive that there are a number of legal ramifactions if you really look into it that you would be able to file under seeing as you were unable to trade due to etrades problems. but ofcourse you must read your contract with them. When you signed up with etrade there would have been the usual i agree or disagree question. The answer to your question would be in there. Also you must check that it was actually etrades problem ofcourse and not something wrong with your computer, because me and afew freinds were haming it up the other day down at the local internet cafe and we found no problems at all with etrade. possibley a problem with your internet server?

Also i actually must disagree with you frodo and mike33, my close and trustworthy freinds used to be with commsec and i used to here nothing but bad things about it from them, they have now changed to etrade and they haven't had any complaints since, thanks to a certain someone who reccomended the crossover.
But nevermind, to each his own.

You may be talking historicaly. Commsec WAS poor. I used TDWaterhouse then who were way ahead of Etrade. Commsec bought Tdwaterhouse for the technology and the product is far superior to anything around. It is as close as you can get to being a real time trader.

I've got a couple of hang ups about ETrade, but otherwise i think it's ok. It seems to log me out too regularly, and i also can't make "Good until cancelled" orders which is frustrating when my order finishes at the top of the queue at the end of the day and then gets deleted. But i think i can't make those orders because i have a margin lending account. What i do like is when i put in an order it hits the market immediately. That's all i need from them as a service.
