don't forget the starfox arwing during the 3ds preview

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN NINTENDO....... WHAT DOES IT MEAN!!!!

okay 2am.... work in 5 hours..... I'm out

fingers crossed Sony does a microsoft so Nintendo finally gets a fanboy award ;)

Nintendo's conference is starting. BTW Midori are you talking about Goldeneye? That's been rumoured for a little while now.

Updates as usual.

Very good show all round. Nintendo have pulled out the big guns and it looks very impressive. Some things in there that I really couldn't give a rats clacker about (Mario Sports, Mickey, Wii Party, Dragon Quest, Golden Sun and Just Dance 2...no seriously, kill me:() but overall with what they brought out it will be very tough to beat in a little over an hour and a half time by Sony. Goldeneye mixed new with old, not quite sold on it, but if they keep to the Goldeneye routes then it is Jizzworthy. Zelda, although VERY poorly presented had a shitload of features and looked fantastic from a visual POV. Donkey Kong coming back and going retro looked good. Metroid has a heap of variety. The 3DS looks very interesting and Kid Icarus is a good launch title. And Nintendo have got some HUGE names to develop for them, Hideo Kojima being perhaps the biggest. Special mention to Reggie as well, brilliant job hosting, very composed, didn't stuff up and made the whole thing sound real and not like it was from a script. The pot-shots were 'meh', but still he did very well. Great show overall, 8.5/10.

Not a 9 simply because there's still a few un-answered stuff. Watching over EA's conference you got a trailer, then gameplay (I would give EA's a 9/10). With Nintendo's there were just trailers giving little snippets of how the game will play, so it leaves a lot of un-answered stuff in regards to game quality.

  • Reggie out and talking straight away. Mentions in passing Move and Kinect. He's got a great stage presence, very assured of himself unlike others this year. Says Nintendo is raising the bar on the gaming experience.
  • Zelda, first up. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Miyamoto is in front of a green screen holding a sword and shield. It's SOOOO AWKWARD! He's speaking while a voice-over is doing the talking for us. HAHAHA he holds up the sword and shield and tells us that the Wii-Mote/Nunchuck and Motion Plus will be in this game. The Wii-mote will control the sword and the nunchuck is the shield. Miyamoto throws to a guy who pretends to be shit. Miyamoto cuts in and says "this is how you do it" and he breaks through a banner and WOW HE'S AT THE EVENT! SURPRISING A GUY FROM NINTENDO IS AT A NINTENDO EVENT! He proceeds to show us how you will use the controls to really immerse yourself in the Zelda world. Miyamoto really has it down fairly well, occasionally things won't work right, but for the most part this is very impressive. Some average stuff there...showing off a nunchuck shooting option trying to shoot these spiders. Miyamoto misses every one of them.:o More awkward aiming going on now with a bow and arrow, Miyamoto can't seem to get anything working right...blaming of the crowd using wireless net interfering with the tech...getting a bit embarrassing. All in all though, there's a ****LOAD of features so far. Game looks very beautiful, using a flying bug thing you get to see some expansive landscapes, VERY good looking. Not all of the tech seems to be working as well as they'd like it, the American translator keeps blaming interference, whether that's true or not will be interesting. Near 15 minute demo all up so far. Miyamoto finishes up by saying that the game is taking a while to develop, look for it in 2011.
  • Reggie comes back out. Says that Zelda is the top line title with more to come today. Now he's talking about games for "everyone" (basically family games...YAWN!).
  • Mario sports game coming up. Beach Volleyball, Ice/Beach Hockey, Dodgeball, Basketball all shown with the usual Mario characters. Will be called Mario Sports Mix. Coming 2011.
  • Reggie back again talking about sales of consoles, games being the highest ever as well as people playing them a lot apparently.
  • Wii Party being shown now. Board Game Island, Balance Boat, Horse Racing amongst others shown.
  • OH GOD! More dancing games...Just Dance 2...looks just as shit as the 1st...not to mention disgraceful that anyone would want to put themselves in one of these ads! If you care, it'll be coming Spring 2010.
  • Golden Sun: Dark Dawn being shown off for the DS. Got some fairly Zelda like gameplay in there. Zelda crossed with a JRPG. Coming 2010.
  • Goldeneye 007. IT'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!! A re-imagining of sorts. Daniel Craig is James Bond, has some of the same levels, Jaws, Oddjob are back. 16 MP Modes including Paintball/Melee only/You only live twice. Looks different, but similar. Coming in NOVEMBER 2010 ONLY FOR THE Wii!
  • Disney Epic Mickey revealed. Very old fashioned animations in cutscene. Looks like it will be potentially darker than any Disney game we've seen on the Wii. You can use paint to paint the world much like De Blob and also use paint thinner which will unveil areas to continue on in the game. As you transition to other worlds in the game you enter into a 2D scroller with an art style like the old fashioned type that Mickey was introduced with.
  • Kirby coming back as a lead character in a game. A story like none before. Kirby's Epic Yarn (overuse of epic much?!!!). 2D Side Scroller using...Yarn as the levels/characters and everything. Spring 2010 release.
  • Reggie continue's to use Epic. Buzz word? Word of the day from Sesame Street??
  • Dragon Quest IX to get Multiplayer. Calls it 100's of hours deep. Will arrive (in the US) in 26 days for the DS.
  • Metroid: The Other M showing now. Shows off FPS, Side Scrolling Platforming, 3rd person action all in the 1 trailer. Arrives August 31, 2010.
  • DONKEY KONG IS HERE! (GrandBlue just exploded!!!!!!) Shows off the retro gameplay that made DK famous. Coming THIS YEAR!
  • HAHA Reggie talking about extending the bar...I know two people in this thread that if their bars "extend" anymore then we'll have no eyesight left!!!
  • 3DS Now. No glasses. Showing off the progression of 3D. Now for the ultimate reveal. Touting improved graphical capability. Analogue stick is included called a "Slide pad". 3DS includes motion sensor. 2 cameras, for taking 3D photo's. Says that movies will now be able to be played on the 3DS, no idea how. But Dreamworks, Warner Bros. and Walt Disney to be the one's bringing the films. Haven't actually shown the 3D tech off though, no idea why.
  • Talking about Project Sora and how it is to transfer into a game. Kid Icarus is back in Kid Icarus: Uprising, "Coming Soon". Will have full 3DS compatibility and is being shown at the show floor...lame!
  • Nintendogs+Cats announced.
  • Biggest 3rd Party Line-up for Nintendo ever. Mentioning titles like Kingdom Hearts, Saints Row, Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear Solid, Riiiiiiiidge Racer among others. Showing off a bunch of publishers (EA, Ubisoft, Hideo Kojima) talking about how they love the new 3D tech and how they can use it in future games.
  • Typical Nintendo ad showcasing the 3DS and how it will "work". Almost as trippy as the showing off of Child of Eden. Strange stuff.
  • A ****ton of pretty young pieces come out with the 3DS to show how the 3DS will work (doesn't help us though...). Definitely could see how it would work with a few of these girls, definite 3D protrusion there!
  • ALL OVER.
Nice work hutch.

Can't wait for Sonys.

Sony's Press Conference is just minutes away. I got my tissues at the ready.:D

Once again, everything that happens will be updated right here.;)

HOLY CRAP WHAT A SHOWING! Killzone 3 footage, LBP2 footage, inFAMOUS 2 footage, Heroes on the Move looks like a great concept, Move footage looking super sweet, Kevin Butler's cameo and having the whole crowd in stitches. Medal of Honor, Dead Space 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Mafia 2 all getting exclusive stuff including the beta for AC:B. Plus Dead Space 2 looking ****ing brilliant. The the onslaught of Portal 2 being on the PS3 (:D:D:D), GT5 releasing November 2, 2010 and then the sneaky David Jaffe gives us the announcement of Twisted Metal PS3. Absolutely blown away and those who know how much I loved Portal will know how much I adore the Portal 2 decision. Only downside would be the PSP stuff, but that was over pretty fast.

Maybe it's bias, or maybe it's because of my love of Portal and now it's sequel will be on the PS3. But this was the best conference of the lot. It was also a VERY well prepared conference. Would've been a maximum of maybe 2-3 issues and they weren't anything to stop the show, on top of that it was all VERY slick and everything moved really well and nobody seemed stiff out there on the stage. Amazing conference, blew away my expectations. 9.5/10.

Overall E3 conferences so far (Konami's is still to come, don't think I'll be staying up for that though, wl give it a review when I get around to watching it though):
Microsoft - 5/10
Ubisoft - 7.5/10
Nintendo - 8.5/10
EA - 9/10
Sony - 9.5/10

  • Montage of all sorts of games to start us off.
  • Jack Tretton coming out now to start the show. Confirms that Kevin Butler won't be on (have to wonder if he will though).
  • Kaz Hirai introduced onto the stage now. He's not as awkward as usual, although he is rocking a Terry Wallace like tan.
  • 20 3D titles from Sony by March 2011.
  • Herman Hulst comes out to showcase Killzone 3 (in 3D to the crowd as well). February 11, 2011 release date. FULL Move compatibility along with 3D.
Level's demoed: First thing is that it says "Pre-Alpha Build" up the top of the footage. Opens on the snow level. One we've seen in a few previous trailers, instant showing of the jetpack enemy. Jetpack flying consists of boosting rather than consistent hovering. Is awesome when you kill one, they go flying into the air and crash back down. Huge environment.

New area to the same level shows the use of the jetpack from the players POV. Very much boosting and propelling your way across massive icebergs in a very platformer like section. Again huge environment being shown. Shooting from Jetpack seems simple enough. Beautiful looking game showing off many a vista moment quickly ended up shootouts.

New level showing some on-rails turret shooting. Lots of explosions, tons of enemies to shoot at as well as enemy vehicles. Demo finished.
  • Kaz back on stage and very nonchalantly announces The Sly Collection (collection of previous Sly Coopers from the PS2) re-mastered in HD and Tumbler (a bit like Boom Blox), while talking about 3D compatible titles including Motorstorm 3, GT5, EyePet, The Fight, MLB 10: The Show, Crysis 2 and Shaun White Skateboarding.
  • Jack Tretton back on now and looking at him too, he's stacked on the Terry Tan too. He's doing very well on stage though, everything looks VERY well rehearsed and no real issues in terms of awkward-ness at all compared to last year (was a very stuttering and nervous approach last year. Jack's up there with Reggie this year for on stage confidence).
  • PlayStation Move time now. Interviews with developers talking about how important Move is (they weren't payed:cool: HAHAHAHAHAHA). Interesting cut back as the guy on stage begins to talk we go back to more interviews, then halfway through back to the guy on stage...let him speak FFS!
  • New Move games coming up.
  • Sum 41's lead singer (They're not Punk...but punk ain't dead biatch!) comes out and presents to us Sorcery a 3rd person action/adventure game. Got a Harry Potter feel to it. Punky Brewster does his stretches and then gets into some gameplay. Very smooth stuff so far, 1:1 is easily there. Some cool little features, finds a potion shakes it, when it's ready the potion goes green and so does the orb on the Move controller. Some very sweet magic spells here at work, everything moving well smoothly and intuitively. Dated Autumn 2011.
  • Aussie guy comes up on stage to present Tiger Woods 11. Talks for a bit at how hard a shot he's got to pull of, lines it up and BANG hits the club straight into the grass...HAHAHAHA. His 2nd attempt goes alright though. Ends up getting par. Not exact 1:1 movement throughout, seems that you need a bit of patience playing and can't just go swinging the thing like crazy. I'm guessing a compensation for the follow through just to make sure not everyone is hitting the ball 4000 miles.
  • Wow, new title called Heroes on the Move announced. Bringing key icons from some of the PlayStation's biggest franchises. Those are Sly Cooper & Bentley, Ratchet & Clank as well as Jak & Daxter. ALL IN ONE GAME!
  • New Time Crisis game announced, called Time Crisis: Razing Storm exclusively for the PS Move (couldn't really get anything on it, was just a title).
  • Sony announce new marketing deal with Coca-Cola to have Move logo's and games plastered over every bottle of Coca-Cola to get the Move out there. Says it's one of the biggest marketing campaigns Sony has EVER done...suddenly there's an interruption though...
  • IT'S KEVIN BUTLER!!! Jeez he's good. Comes out "Pew, Pew, Pew". Has a crack at Kinect and their circus act. Spouting off some fantastic one liners. Brilliant patriotic speech about gaming, has the crowd eating out of his palm. He's off.:(
  • PS Move release date of September 15 (for Europe). Pricing is $49.99US for the Move Controller and $29.99US for the Nunchuck. Bundled with Sports Champions it's $99.99US and with a PS3 it's $399.99US with Motion Controller, Nunchuck and Sports Champions.
  • PSP stuff now with a new advertising campaign in a similar vein to Kevin Butler's only with a young kid (the black kid from the movie Role Models).
  • God of War: Ghost of Sparta trailer shown. Looks sweet and seems like it will follow the vein of previous GoW's as only GoW can.
  • LittleBigPlanet 2 to be showed now. "A Platform for games" sill the main slogan, will show off exactly how this works. Starts off with a fairly simple button timing game. Now a sumo like game with little cars. Now a 2D shooter a bit like Crash Commando. A quick little montage shown of the best LBP creators coming into MM's studio for 24 hours and there is a bevvy of different games and AMAZING levels.
  • PSN Plus announced now. A subscription based PSN program. The PSN won't charge for online play, just offering other features. $49.99US for a full year, $17.99US for 3 months. You get a new PSN title each month along with other features and game downloads.
  • Medal of Honor getting exclusive Limited Edition version for the PS3 which will feature a remastered version of Medal of Honor: Frontline. ZZ Top comes out on stage to talk about Medal of Honor and Santa is ready to show us a new character for MoH. Holy crap, scooter just blew my mind, the guy looks exact to the cover guy! Insane announcement of UNLOCKABLE BEARDS! ABSOLUTE MUST GET NOW!
  • Dead Space 2 footage continues on from it's showing at EA earlier. Some superb footage shown, full on action while still being brutal and scary. Will get a Limited Edition version also with Dead Space Extraction with Move support, exclusive to the PS3.
  • HOLY SHIT. PORTAL 2 WILL BE ON THE PS3!!! OH MY ****ING INSANELY EPIC GOD! Gabe Newell is literally eating his words on stage (watch out for Monty Python moment!). Gabe says that the PS3's Portal 2 will be THE BEST console version due to Steam integration.
  • Final Fantasy XIV shown...but who gives a ****...PORTAL 2 ON THE ****ING PS3 MOTHA****AS!!!!!!
  • HOLY CRAP SONY IS BLOWING US AWAY RIGHT NOW.
  • Mafia 2 will have PS3 exclusive content and so will Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood including exclusive access to the MP beta for AC:B.
  • BRAND NEW GT5 TRAILER! DATE INCOMING....NOVEMBER 2, 2010!!!
  • inFAMOUS 2 now, looks amazing. City looks insane and the new voice is actually not bad. First look at the beast. 2011 release.
  • TWISTED METAL FOR PS3! David Jaffe's new game! Gameplay being shown. Massive showing. Showing off fantastic variety, wicked humour, frantic action, huge environments and some amazing Twisted Metal nostalgia moments.
  • ALL OVER!

Are you currently in Melbourne HBK? Cos you're a trooper if so, considering its 5am over there.
Yep, well worth it dude. WELL ****ING WORTH IT!:D

Did I hear it right that the PS3 version of Portal 2 will hook up with Steam and also use Steam Cloud?
That is what he said. Said that was the reason it would be the best console version.

cool.
found this on IGN...

hopefully that'll open the door for more games to do the same. :thumbsu:
Definitely opens up avenues for other games. And it's about time Gabe showed the PS3 some love, couldn't have done it for a better game though.:D

Why would Portal 2 not be on the PS3? The first one was, wasn't it?

I gather it's to do with P2 being a stand alone game and people thinking Valve wouldn't bother to bring it to the PS3 because of Gabe's disdain for the system, yeah?

There is a disappointing lack of new IP on show at the moment, everything is just sequels which makes me sad :(

[*]Sum 41's lead singer (Punk ain't dead biatch)

Hard to take you seriously after this comment I'm afraid.

Invig, Valve games haven't been made on PS3 since the Orange Box, there were problems with the port. LFD, LFD2 weren't released on PS3.

Anywhere where I can watch the Sony press in full.

killzone 2 looks sick, and comes out in feb like KZ2, man sony could make a killing if they pushed for a Dec release but i would rather it not be rushed. and it might make me get a 3dTV

EA did the Orange Box port.

You should be able to download the press conference from the PS Store or on GameTrailers.

There's the press conference in full. I just checked it out, it works.

Ahhh nintendo really did it for me this year, love all those games. Sony mainly looking forward to LBP2 and twisted metal :)

I'm really happy with Sony's, but I have to say, Nintendo stole the show imo, and I've been extremely critical of the Wii. Microsoft's was a very distant third.

Ah cool, cheers Jabso.

Agent is the Rockstar PS3 exclusive yeah? Would have been good to get some info on that.
I'm dying to see some in-game footage of L.A Noire and Deus Ex 3 (DE1 is the holy grail of gaming IMO, so I'm crossing my fingers, hoping for the best and completely washing DE2 out of my memory).

This'll interest you Hutchie.

Namco are making a Move-on-rails shooter bundle.

Time Crisis Raizing Storm
Dead Storm Pirates
Time Crisis 4.

All 3 games will be in one disc.

Will be revealed in Famitsu next week.
