That is one of the lamest things I have ever seen, thank god for Sony/MS conferences.

looks like it is a new console after all

Presume its a new console, considering the games they are announcing for it. HD resolution etc.

Nintendo have surely jumped the shark here.

Obviously there seems to be the issue with the 3DS overpricing now compared to the Vita.

But then you have this...abortion of a console with a controller that is just plain ridiculous.

I get that they're trying to bring the tablet/iPad/iPhone audience, but surely there was a better way. There's no chance this thing will take off, is there?!

Nintendo innovating again. :thumbsu:

Better then stale MS or Sony. Both companies better step up their game.

Wii U = Wii 1.5.

What it should have been in the first place.

Controller is nice though.

It will take off, its Nintendo. Its pretty innovative I give them that, but personally cant see myself using it. More interested to see its specs, you would have to assume they built it with more power then a 360/PS3.

Wow tough crowd.

I loved what I saw. Nintendo are the only ones still making consoles instead of gimped PC's, which in itself is ironic, because with this controller, PC only games like Civilization/Starcraft/Diablo could actually be done justice. A touch screen in your controller is as many buttons as the designer wants. That potentially changes idea's about game design that have ruled this generation. Think about 2 weapon limits on FPS's these days. That only started happening with Halo and the rise of the console FPS, as that was a result of working around the button limit on a gamepad. It's the limits of the gamepad being broken from a design perspective in huge budget games which honestly excites me about it the most. It should lead to better designed games, hardcore and casual.

I'm not sure how hardcore Nintendo are going to take this thing, but with the likes of Metro appearing, it looks like the 3rd parties have taken it upon themselves this time. As far as I can tell, this thing has genuine potential from the most casual Wii-sports titles to the most hardcore of games.

I like it to be honest. Plus it's Nintendo, it's always going to sell.

Anyways, I'm off to sleep for an hour or so before I need to get up for work.

Night!

People forget so fast about the Gamecube.

"It's Nintendo, it'll sell"...wonder if they're thinking the same. Did nobody read about the 3DS doing worse than the PSP?

Its more the Wii name that sells now I think.

Interesting point brought up on GTTV that the streaming to controller is most likely possible on PS3 - Vita. Whether or not Sony pursue that in the future is anyone's guess.

Eh, Nintendo's was alright....

I don't like the controller and shudder to think how much each will cost.

The idea of mixing the controllers and different perspectives for Wii remote vs Wii U controller players is nice though. Darksiders, Batman, Assassins Creed etc really piqued my interest though, not so much through wanting to play them but seeing how they will be implemented.

Luigi's mansion was total win. Kid Icarus looks really good too.

Surprisingly my two favourite announcements so far have been just that, only 'announcements', Smash Bros. On Wii U + 3DS And BioShock on PSV.

The third party support for the Wii U is impressive, not so much for the 3DS though. All in all it was okay, too much yapping about 'innovation' and 'catering' and not enough content shown off.

As true as that may be, the fact that gamers would be required to own both a vita and a ps3 means that games will never be designed from the ground up to take advantage of the tech, unlike Wii 2.

Oh yeah for sure. Don't disagree at all, price wise and developer wise wouldn't work. I think their point was the tech is not really that new.
