Is he far away?

I wanted him dropped after his early season from was ordinary (although to be fair to the kid his preseason was average) but I thought he might have got some fitness up by now???


Anybody know how he's been tracking in the WAFL?

I don't know how he's tracking Troy. But I do know that I want him back in an Eagles jumper ASAP as I think that he's like Masten and will be a GUN in the future after pumping games into him.
I can't believe Adelaide were foolish enough to overlook him. All the better for us though.

Looks more of Hff to me. Not quick enough for midfield but has a great pair of hands and smarts and may play the HF link man role which is an area we are lacking.

But still, his running ability worries me for modern AFL which may be why he was overlooked.

From memory Ebert had 23 possessions, 9 marks and a goal.... from memory.

He went at pick 13 if you are commenting on the draft - hardly "overlooked".

He isnt quick but he is ok pace wise. He is also physical, can take a mark, has leadership skills and knows how to play football. He is, at least, the same speed as 4 or 5 guys in our current mid rotation.

His slowness comes from a lack of intensity at the contest. At 16 he beasted everyone he played against and was a man amongst boys. He still hasnt come to grips with the bigger bodies and the faster pace. Needs one pre season of run run and more running

Agree somewhat, he is good footballer and his form last year at Westcoast was solid. Endurance will be the difference between him being good and being great.

When his intensity is up he is a very capable player, just need to have a look at his games against the likes of the Saints & Crows.

He is a pure footballer not an athlete. Skills, vision and time will be the feature of his game rather than pace. He will be a very important player for us in the future. Give him time, he's not going to be Judd.

I think that Adelaide had a pick before 13 with which they COULD have taken Ebert. They preferred someone else. I think that that is what "drexel" meant by "overlooked".

Wouldnt go that far. Dangerfield hasnt had anywhere near the injury problems Ebert has. Its like comparing Apples and Oranges. You wanted Apples and we wanted Oranges.

Im CERTAIN Ebert will be a AFL quality footballer. All we have to see is how good and at what level he will play at

The problem with Ebert at the moment is he isn't releasing enough music videos. It's how Mark Jackson became so successful.

Dangerfield also had the benefit of spending an entire year + a few games this season honing his skills in the SANFL. Ebert has had to shoulder the responsibility of our midfield with Masten from round 1 with OP. He has faded a little into obscurity but he will come back with aplomb towards the end of the year and be a permanent midfield rotator the beginning of next year.

i think he is a gun and will be a crucial member of our new look midfield.

i watched him last year and in particular against adelaide he owned the footy and ripped them apart, like all youngsters he needs games under his belt and he will mature into a great footballer.

Dangerfield played mainly in the TAC cup last year and hasn't played any SANFL this year.

Ebert then suffered OP had a very limited pre-season which has impacted on his form this year.

Dangerfield has had one exceptional game and the rest have been serviceable. Ebert last year had a couple of exceptional games, including v Adelaide.

They are exactly the same age (3 days apart).

All anyone can say at this stage is they have both shown a fair bit in different roles and that Ebert has been down this year which is understandable given his lack of a pre-season due to injury.

Ebert is far more inside, has much better marking ability but is one-paced v Dangerfields genuine speed.

Both are footballers, Ebert has unquestioned leadership ability.

If Crows fans want to get excited about having "made the right choice" based on a mid who gets a lot of handball receives, runs fast but only averages 13 possessions a game in a high possession game plan, then all the best to them.

I look foward to him gaining real endurance. As said by others this will take atleast a full pre season. He looks a great prospect if he can build endurance - a real Ryan O'keith type of player

He is close IMO - Has been solid for Peel the past few weeks and had a great game last weekend in the 50 point loss to West Perth.
