I dont know how he was in juniors . but nepotism catches up for some.

Football IQ is so underrated. Some players just dont have it
and Allan looks like he does not have much Footy IQ

I am no doubt in the minority but I thought Ed put his body on the line a lot more last night.
Not as if he was getting much help from anyone.
I think bringing Nick along was a bad mistake, pulling him at the last minute unsettled the team badly.
If they'd ruled him out before leaving Melbourne the team would have had time to come to terms with it.

I actually thought similar. Obviously my biggest concern with Ed has been want/intensity/one armed tackles but thought he looked to get more involved on Thursday.

I’m still holding out some hope there’s a player there

Needs to do heaps and heaps of ground balls. There was a few times when he had access to ground balls and could have been damaging - needed to turn on the jets, but didn't. I suspect it's ball handling confidence, so doesn't hit it at high speed. They weren't contact related squibs.

I don't like to bag players but there's a reason why he's not trusted with a role onball.

It does my head in that posters want us to pit Allan against the likes of Ashcroft, Neale, Serong, Brayshaw etc ... How the hell is that going to work ...

If it can’t work after four years, will it ever?
He's not going to be a quality mid. If you can run like him, yet struggle on the wing after 4 years in the system - the likelihood of becoming a quality mid is really really slim. Still a chance to become a decent role player on the wing, but anything above that is very unrealistic.

I don’t think he damaging enough to be a good winger. His skills by foot and hand/decision making concerns me. As bad as Lippa has been atleast he had that.

Needs to become a Crisp style line breaker and get it done that way rather than with immaculate disposal. I view him as unlikely.

I don't think he could be any worse than any of the combinations we have had in the centre square for ball ups. Most teams just walk out of the middle unimpeded time and again.

He definitely could and would be

He couldn't be worse than Lipinski. Would be about the same. One token effort and that's about it.

If I was Perryman and Sullivan I would be insulted that Lipinski got a CBA ahead of them.

To me Ed is to football what Cameron Green is to cricket. Looks like he has all the tools but never quite delivers. I think both these lads have a lack of self-belief that they belong. There are some traits that you either have, or you don't. I love players that are considered real competitors, blokes that hate losing and will leave no stone unturned in their desire to make it. I don't buy that Ed is not talented enough but I do think he is not competitive enough, not hard enough and does not believe he is good enough. I hope he proves me wrong.
