We could at least try him on ball and see if we can get something out of him. We pretty much know that lipinski has turned into an absolute pumpkin.
I agree. Allen should get a decent run in the middle. He can’t do any worse than the current choices.

We have a lot riding on Cochrane because he is tall and we need a quality key defender coming through. However, he is not playing better football than Ryan or Jiath at the moment, most would say he is behind them on form alone. Ryan and Jiath do also play tall for medium height defenders. It's a bit of a lottery at the moment, but we need them putting pressure on and coming through.
Ryan 2022 draft
Jiath 2023 draft
Cochran 2024 draft
just food for thought

Lippa was great in our old system, as the recipient of overlap run and the deliverer of precise kicks into an open forward line.

In the new ugly (but maybe necessary) model, his outside talents are rarely drawn on and his relatively slow and non-pressuring weaknesses are more exposed.

But Allan is even softer and slower (in reality). And can't be precise by hand or foot. He offers literally nothing.

This made me chuckle. He really should not come in.

Maybe a sneaky Swadling debut
Unless he's been in other positions at training, I can't see Swadling coming in. They'll debut him in a role he's been playing and I can't see them playing him as a half back play maker without injuries. I'm hoping they shift him to wing/half forward for a couple of weeks to prep him for an AFL role.

I'll be happy and a bit surprised if we get one good player out of those 3.

Lippa has one elite trait, and that is finding targets inside 50.

Unfortunately he has only one method of getting the ball - highly uncontested receiving on the ultra-outside. Every other facet of the game he is poor at.

And even his I50 disposal seems to have fallen away (maybe less space?)

Agree unfortunately, unless they make clear progress need to move them on. Still not as unlikely as HDM, not only a mystery why we recruited him, but extended …..

From the articles at the time - diligent hard worker and good self promoter. Probably got suckered by that.

Has to be - so shallow however if that is it.

I prefer the direction we have gone in the last couple of years. While still a while to go, West, Hayes, Swaddling and Anderson have all shown a bit despite all being pretty late picks. Those pre 30 picks just have to be based on talent plus not a complete dickhead. We had an incredible strike rate around 2007 to 2011 period.

Is there any chance we can just plonk this guy in the middle and say “go for it”.
If fails, maybe trail a player in a tall tag type roll might work?
To date, hasn’t shown the initiative to gather and create.
I’m not sold on him as a wingman on exposed form, seems too reactive.

Personally I think no, IMO, fly doesn't often venture to far from the plan... Fly's plan at the start of the year didn't include Ed as a permanent mid at this stage and Fly definitely had Angry ahead on the pecking list. I suspect Fly will resort to existing core body's before exposing Ed full time.

Surprised so many want him in the center when he offers nothing physically. Walsh and Cripps going to have a field day

The ball hits the ground a lot in the centre square, and we have been struggling when this happens. Not she if he is clean enough to pick it up off the deck, but hopefully he is quick enough to get there before the opposition does.

Rd 2 2024 Allan had 21 (10 contested), 6 tackles, 3 clearances

Rd 12 2025 24 disposals (8 contested), 8 tackles

There are moments of grunt..not enough at senior level, but enough clearances at VFL level.

I’m not saying Allan will make it long term… but if he is, he needs time in the middle

And for tonight we have an AA in Josh Daicos to replace Sidebottom. However Fly seems determined to leave him in defence

I'm surprised how much I've turned on this guy after being huge wrap, I guess it comes from potentially being the modern-day specimen player that we would love to see him turn into, for me he has had enough chances but would be the first to put my hand up if proven wrong (doubt it)

Got the finger on the trigger to rip into him post the game!!!
