Thanks for these Dave.

Nice running, better game.

However is wasting many of his disposals in a kick and hope type effort. Tackles need to stick also.
It's significant progress. He's still sloppy, but taking it on. Very promising.

Not writing Ed off, I just have a feeling it will come together for him soon.
I think it is slowly coming together and it would happen if given another 1-2 years. But his skills are not AFL standard yet and his 195cm frame has not quite fully developed yet. I dont think the club will be willing to give him more time.

You could be right, he’s getting closer, I don’t think he’s a waste of a list spot

The one thing the Collingwood list has is time.

With all the retirements looming in the next 1-3 years, there’s no rush to give up on developing players.

Was 'prolific' on the weekend, 33 touches, 17 kicks, 7 tackles and just under 80% DE. When and AFL player drops back to the VFL Fly expects them to play above the level and that's exactly what ED did.

Like the GWS game, Ed smashed them all day and particularly in the final quarter when CFC needed someone to stand up. Ed hit 3 inside fifty targets in the final quarter against the bombers, two resulted in the winning goals.

Jet and still only 21!
I'm with you, I think he's got some weapons, tends to have good hands in tight situations, and his acceleration is elite.

To my eye, he needs to improve below his knees and ground ball gathering in general as he tends to fumble and he needs to increase his general running cadence, too often he disposes of the ball and then slows to a jog, needs to work with Nick to learn how to maintain a higher level of cadence when he's in the play so that he's more of a give and go option.

The thing with Ed is he’s not going to be pursued by other clubs, so there’s no imperative for us to offer a lengthy or lucrative contract, which makes him low risk to hold onto.

Could see him being given a 1-year cheapie offer and he’d probably take it.

the play at 1min 46, he should have just put the foot down and backed himself to goal. he has already ran past 2 opponents with ease
he has one weapon, extreme pace, needs to utilize at every opportunity he gets, should be given the license to do so, which i assume he has been.
he just needs to train more with his skills

imagine if he had a decent kick and was a one touch player with that pace

There might be some interest from West if he picks up, even he keeps banging the door down in the Magoos they may well offer up something that helps out.
Yes thats possible.

One minute he’s delist material, next minute he’s highly sought after trade bait.

All players are expendable at the right price, or in Collingwoods case sometimes, at the wrong price!

Personal view on Allan, persist. If he ends up down the track being valuable enough that it can help us land a big fish , like for example Noble and Richards helping land Houston, then we can take a look then . But that’s true for a bunch of young players.

It’s a step in the right direction but feel like he needs to put consecutive improving performances together before he’ll be looked at again, given how immediately Anderson has stepped into the team
Maybe he needs a cool nickname like “Angry” to give him confidence. “AgitatEd Allan”

Out of contract this year. Has a big couple of months ahead of him.
He does have potential so we have to be patient, it is not as if we have to offer him a huge contract. What are the odds of drafting someone after our first pick who is better and they have to have the same years and resources invested in them. With some more oldies leaving at the end of the year, we need a solid layer underneath the top one.
